For photographers who want a flat matte surface, Epson Ultra Premium Presentation Paper Matte is a great choice with its bright whites and ability to preserve shadow detail. The alpha cellulose paper features a heavy basis weight of 192 gsm along with a thickness of 10.3 mil. Also, it has a high rated brightness of 104% that helps highlights look their best.
This paper is available here as a 50-pack of 8.5 x 11″ sheets.

I used Epson Premium Luster and Glossy for quite a while but never happy with the surface/ink combination. Dark and black ink did not match the shiny-ness of the paper. I’d always used Agfa Brovira and Portriga rapid–air dried when I was making silver gelatine black and white prints. The surface of Premium Luster was the closest digital medium, but the inconsistent reflectivity led me to using Matte. Combined with matte black ink color images are nice and saturated, maybe not as crisp color contrast as Luster or Glossy but very good. Black and white photos I scan using 16-bit RGB. In Photoshop I either use the red channel, desaturated, (which has a similar effect of a red filter on camera lens using b&w film) or desaturate the RGB combined. That is the way to utilize the light black ink in the Stylus Photo 2200, which gives a much longer tonal scale than when selecting Black Ink in the print settings. I like the results of B&W on Matte paper using RGB/16-bit. It’s also easy to tone the desaturated image using Photoshop filters at low %, either sepia or warming 85a/b. I can get a Portriga Rapid warm tone this way.The question not answered on the package or anywhere on Epson’s website: Is Ultra Premium Presentation Matte acid free?

I’m starting a cottage industry with a line of greeting cards. Will be printing 4-up on 13×19 Enhanced Matte Paper to test the various designs. Will also be generating one of a kind cards as the ultimate 1:1 marketing tool.

I bought the paper for use with the Epson 4800 series printer that i use at college. Paper holds the ink beautifully, with nor smudging or leaking through the back of the paper when used for fine printing settings.

This paper is matte meaning the print is often much lower in contrast than other types. However, if matte is what you’re looking for this is the paper for you. It is high quality and B&H is always helpful and prompt.

I keep coming back to this paper when printing with my SureColor P800 printer. The colors, saturation and details are excellent on the matte surface. Of course there are thicker, fancier (and much more expensive) papers for print sales or gallery shows, but the Ultra Premium Presentation Paper Matte is a great value to produce long lasting prints pigment inks.

Love the look of this matte paper, of course for photos that call for this look! I like the quality of it and the soft quality it gives to the proper photos. (I don’t see much sense in uploading example photos, sorry – between my photo of a print and your screen, what can you see?…)

Good and economical to print proofs. Would use a cotton rag paper for a display print.
