With a popular E-type luster surface, Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster will provide digital printmakers with images that mimic the look of traditional silver halide prints. This polyethylene-coated RC base will also deliver outstanding color saturation for vivid prints and it features a basis weight of 240 gsm as well as a thickness of 10 mil. The paper will dry instantly for immediate handling and it offers an opacity of 97% and a brightness of 97%. Additionally, it features a gloss level of 16% at 60°.

I’m a longtime traditional photographer, making b&w silver gelatin prints, using a 4 x 5. A long time ago, I settled on Oriental Seagull paper, glossy (I noticed that Ansel Adams used it), which I dried on a fiberglass screen. That’s the surface I like. It’s glossy, bringing out the blacks, but not super shiny (as in the old days, when we finished prints by squeeging them on ferrotype tins). Super shiny meant you couldn’t see the print for the reflection. Anyway, the surface of the luster finish here, side by side with my Oriental Prints, looks identical. So, if you’re looking for a glossy, but not too glossy finish, this is the way to go.

The Ultra Premium Luster Photo Paper (of any size) will produce quality prints with vibrant colors and details. The paper is very sturdy in the sense that finger prints and scratches are (though still obtainable like any product) highly unlikely. Due to the quality, the paper produces a sort of sheen in the blackest areas, but without the mirror effect that most printers do not desire. It is difficult finding the right paper when printing underwater photos, but this paper was exactly what I needed for my images.Through working with this paper, I have been able to bring to life my images with a quality that was unexpected, but satisfied my perfectionist personality. I say unexpected due to the different styles of paper that I have tried that promised these results, but unfortunately could not deliver. I was very pleased with the Luster Paper that I purchased through B&H and will use whenever possible for my future endeavors.

I use this paper to print wedding prints. Buying the larger quantity help when you print a lot and want to cut cost without using an inferior paper. My customers have the option of about 6 different papers and this is the one they request the most by far. Would like for this paper to be a little heavier but minor problem at most.
