With a popular E-type luster surface, Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster will provide digital printmakers with images that mimic the look of traditional silver halide prints. This polyethylene-coated RC base will also deliver outstanding color saturation for vivid prints and it features a basis weight of 240 gsm as well as a thickness of 10 mil. The paper will dry instantly for immediate handling and it offers an opacity of 97% and a brightness of 97%. Additionally, it features a gloss level of 16% at 60°.

I have an Epson 17 printer. Although it permits me print photos that are 16 x 20 inches or slightly larger, I find that I mostly print images that can be matted as 16 x 20s. This size, and the next smaller one, which is 11.7 x 16.5 inches, are the two I use most. Which size I use depends upon the proportions of the pictures I print for such mounting. I keep a supply ahead of each of those sizes. (By cropping and matting my own prints I can choose whatever proportion I feel will look best inside a 16 x 20 mat. Since I mat my own prints, I have as many potential proportions as my tastes dictate.) Of all the papers I have used, I like the texture and sheen of this paper best. In my opinion, it renders the best looking prints available to me. Since such matters are matters of personal taste, readers should take my opinion for what it is–that of an ammature photographer who has been printing and competing successfully for around a decade and a half.

We used this paper for black and white photography. The contrast is good. The black is true. Color prints are also very true to a calibrated monitor’s color representation. There is no noticeable shift in color.
