For several years I had used Hahnemuhle Fine Art papers for my exhibition prints, particularly B&W, UNTIL I discovered this Epson paper AT HALF THE PRICE! Rich blacks, excellent grayscale range and spot-on, vivid contrast. Surprise: Color rendition is also rich and deep. I LOVE THIS PAPER!

I love Epson Fine Art Velvet. I’ve been using it for my art prints for years. Unfortunately, it arrived bent, despite have reinforced corners as part of the packaging. I sent one package back as a return, and re-ordered. The new package arrived bent also. I have orders to fill though, so I’m weighing the corner down overnight in hopes the bend will relax. Please rethink the packaging on this product!

This paper is rich in color. I think it is much nicer than the premium luster. It has a feel to it that adds dimension to my prints. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious matte finish to make their art or photography pop off the page.

I tried this paper for black and white portraits, color flower based still life and some scenic images printed on my R2880. It has a decent tonal range, blacks and good color. I’ll use it again for some images. It has a good feel; better than RC papers. There is only one minor issue using the paper. Epson says the whiter side of the paper is for printing. To my eyes, both sides look about the same.

I absolutely love Epson’s Velvet Fine Art Paper for the work I do. Because the paper absorbs ink, images made on Velvet have a perceptible depth to them, much like my platinum prints from film. Also, this paper yields beautiful, velvety (appropriately enough) blacks and vivid colors. I use it for landscape photography, as well as portraiture and still lifes, and it makes a beautiful base for black and white prints, giving them a completely different feel from those make on glossy paper. The paper has a subtle texture that’s not at all obtrusive and actually accentuates most prints. The only downside to this paper is that there’s not an obvious face or back side, but it must be printed on the face side. I keep track by only removing one sheet at a time from the inner package and keeping it with the seal side up, which means the face side is always up, too.

I had an image of a cat sleeping amoungst autumn leaves, which looked great on premium luster, but it took on a painting quality on this Velvet fine art paper.

I used the product to print some custom graphics on. It held the ink well, it was easy to deckle and looks fantastic in a frame. No complaints….a great product overall.

this is my favorite paper for printing high quality prints of my photos. I sell these to customers and they are very impressed with the weight and texture of the paper. It takes color and detail very well and is a pleasure to work with. I use it for 17×22, 13×19 and 8×10 prints.

See my review of the 17×22 size. This is a good test size before printing in a larger format.

Have tried many other papers for fine art printing on my Epson printer. Keep going back to VFA. Love the texture and the results – both for color and B&W!
