I purchased Epson’s Signature Worthy sample package and did test prints on the same image on each type of paper. For color photographs, the Hot Press Bright was the clear choice. Subtle, smooth transitions between colors produce a printed image that matches what you saw on the computer screen.

This fine paper makes prints that impress people without imposing itself on the image but by enhancing it the way a beautifully cut matte does. I think my pictures simply look better on it. They are the way I want them to look with none of the distracting shine of glossy paper and not dull like some matte papers. The paper is heavy enough that it does not have to be dry mounted to remain flat and a border can be left on the print to sign when matted. The finished product is impressive when using this beautiful paper.

I use this with my P800 printer. Old photo restorations have the look and feel of vintage prints. I’ve wanted to make prints that look like what I get with this paper for over 40 years. No traditional photo papers ever came close to the beautiful matte blacks that can be achieved with this Epson paper and their pigmented inks.

I am a fine art photographer and I love this paper for what I do, which is mostly still life and portrait work. It is very rich in color and the texture is velvety smooth. However, this paper requires very careful handling. During the first 24 hours, before it is completely dry, any dust that lands on it can permanently adhere. I try to prevent this by placing the curing print back inside the box, making sure the lid is not in contact with the surface. Once prints are dry, it is still very easy to scratch them just by stacking them. Tissue needs to be placed between prints to lessen the chance of this happening. This is mostly noticeable in dark areas of images. This wouldn’t be a good choice of paper for printing large quantities. It would be too frustrating due to the careful handling needed. But in terms of the end product, this is really gorgeous paper.

I was disappointed in that I ordered 2 rolls of Epson paper, not realizing buying another roll would have qualified me for a rebate. I lost out and so did B&H. I would have definitely gotten a third roll, but alas the rebate announcement didn’t jump out at me in the product description. I’m still waiting for the roll of Legacy Fiber that has been out of stock. Still I’m a fan of B&H and depend on them for supplies.

This is the paper i used for all gallery and editioned prints. Good gray scale range. I wish it was a little smoother but still the best I have found. Two negitives. Print surface is very easy to damage, especially fresh out the print, not wise to stack prints trying. I blow down sheets before I print but I have had issues with flecks coming off the paper with my 4900. Hard to explain and its rare but happens.

This paper is fantastic and produces results very close to the much more expensive Hahnemuhle Ultra Smooth. Side by side comparisons usually leave my clients picking this paper over the other. One unfortunate downside is that you have to be really careful and keep cleaning the paper with a static free brush as it sheds bits of paper from the edge where it’s cut. It’s quite annoying.

I print using the Epson R3000 printer. I thought that my previous matte paper was good but this Hot Press Bright Smooth Matte is the best that I’ve seen. Razor sharp, great colors, matches what I see on my monitor, and the colors are vibrant without being over saturated. It also gives me the deepest blacks on my black & white photos.

We have been using this paper for over 2 years. It was the best we found. Over the last four months we have ordered numerous amounts from various suppliers and the quality of each pack has been terrible (ink bleeds, poor coverage, colors off drastically). We spoke with Epson directly and they sent a replacement box and it was equally as bad. We are having the same problem with the Hot Press Natural as well. Sadly, after all these years the makeup of this paper has changed. It is barely usable and we moved on and found another paper source (not Epson) which is producing amazing results.

I’ve never been super impressed with matte paper for photos or vector work until now. Love this stuff. I sell fine art prints off of my Epson 3880. Some contain text. I have found that it handles non-script letters better than cursive fonts,but that is true of most matte paper. Fine details in vector and photo is amazing. Heavy weight, nice soft feel for clients. The bright definitely holds color far better than some other brands- they really pop with a great deal of contrast I can’t get elsewhere. It’s a bit less cost effective than some others once you get into 17×22 territory but really worth it if you want high def and performance from a matte finish. Haven’t done BW photos yet, but get nice tone range for color with a softer look than Luster. Time will tell how they hold up. Epson ICC profiles work well. Gotta play around with printer and color settings to get what you need out of it.
