Works Fine

Used with a Epson 7800 printer, this paper has great snap and color rendering for a matte paper. I was looking for a replacement for Somerset Velvet, and this is it. Good white paper color and a nice heavy weight to minimize curl. Unfortunately, Epson abandons owners of older printers, and doesn’t provide ICC profiles for this paper/printer combination. I used Ultrasmooth Fine Art profile and was satisfied with it.

If you like a matt surface this paper prints with lovely color and black and white tones.

Great paper for B&W and color. I’m using an Epson 4880 with matte black ink.
Orland Leannon (verified owner) –
Wonderful for color photographs where surface shouldn’t distract from the image. Images become one with the paper, don’t sit on top like with so many inkjet papers.

Nice weight & slight texture make vivid prints

great paper without being terribly expensive

Outstanding results with the 3880. This is truly matte so it works best with certain. Be sure to download the most recent profile.

Bright white, beautiful color renditions

Epson HPN and HPB are my go-to papers for printing on matte paper. Great paper and price point. Five years ago, I tested all of the leading matte papers for a large project I was completing. In the end, Epson HPB won out. I can’t say enough about this paper.

This paper feels and looks great when your final print is on it. Its durable with a bit of thickness to it. Not cheap and flimsy at all. I am going to buy this paper again.

I print abstract photos on an Epson 3880 printer. I have tried several other papers and I find that the overall look of the Hot Press Bright looks fantastic for what I am trying to do. My photos go from stright B & W to very saturated colors and it handles them all very nicely. Good blacks, bright colors and even though it has a matt finish everything still pops and looks sharp. Also, the paper is thick enough so that you can handle it easily. I am also using the 8 x 10 cut of this paper and like it as well.

Paper is thick and prints watercolor paintings beautifullly

Ive been using Hot Press Natural for years, but when the 13×19 size was sold out, I decided to try out the bright. While the overall tone of the paper honestly didn’t differ too far from what I was used to with natural, I noticed immediately that my prints were coming out with horrible scratches and streaks. My Printer and I toiled for HOURS trying to figure out what was going on and assumed there was something wrong with his Epson until we inspected a fresh, blank sheet under a bright light with a magnifying glass. EVERY SINGLE sheet had scratches and striations permeating the paper’s coating. I am assuming I just got a bad batch, because I have never once encountered this issue with Hot Press Natural. Very disappointed though, I have to hang a gallery show in less than a week and my prints are unusable.

I’m a professional print maker. This is great paper. The 44 inch roll actually lets me use paper more efficiently as well as make very large prints.

When my fine art paper comes from B&H, I always know it will 1) be super well packed for care, and 2) be at one of the best prices out there. Excellent! A terrific paper for B&W printing (use an Epson 3880).

I print on an Epson 3880. My two favorite papers for portfolios and prints that will be hung are Epson Hot Press Bright and Exhibition Fiber. I use the latter for about of my prints, especially those with a wide range of colors for which a certain amount of snap is needed. But both EFP and HPB excel at reproducing a wide color range and wide luminosity range. But some prints just look better with a flatter, matte surface. For these HPB is my go to paper. I use it for both B&W and color prints. For images with a narrower color and luminosity range, with particularly muted colors, I use Cold Press Natural. Usually, these images also benefit from a textured paper, somewhat less white paper, like CPN. I can’t think of any negatives.
