I have used many different fine art papers including most of what EPSON offers. This etching paper is as close to a perfect paper as I’ve seen. Whether printing color or black and white, big or small the results are consistently outstanding. Seems to give me the color and tones I’m looking for out of a matte paper. This paper pairs well with my P800 and EPSON inks and is the only matte paper I will be using fo a while.

I avoided trying this paper until very recently. I was very happy with Epson Hot Press Natural and didn’t like the price of the Legacy Etching. But I wanted to test other papers and bought a box. It’s now my favorite paper. I currently print with an Epson 7890 and using the Epson profile, the edge goes to Etching. The differences are subtle, primarily in the shadow detail, but it’s enough to warrant the price difference, to me.

I first purchased a Legacy sample pack, to print a portfolio to be submitted for a photography certificate, and chose this paper for a sunrise image after reading reviews from other photographers who raved about it for sunsets. The result was spectacular . . . although possibly a tad over-saturated for some tastes, so I printed it again after reducing the saturation a bit. I wanted to try other prints on it, so I bought a pack. I love it, but I do find that vibrant images like the sunrise are a bit dull if I choose watercolor fine art in the print settings but perfect if I choose velvet fine art — and don’t over-saturate the image. I had no trouble loading the paper from the sampler pack, but I had quite a bit of trouble loading the paper from the box! The pages were slightly curled up at the edges, despite being packed in a sturdy box, and required some careful flexing to load in my Epson SureColor P800. But, I love the results when I did get it loaded.

The texture thickness and quality of this paper is great, the prints came out just like paintings.

When used with an Epson P800 the results are great when using any size paper. Especially when you are painting your prints.

Lagacy Etching is my go-to paper for fine art images, both in Black and white and color. The ICC was right on and provided a great foundation for the color prints.

The Epson Legacy Etching is perfect for a new portfolio of artworks we are developing. The colors using HD inks and the stipple of the surface plus the great weight provide exceptional prints for us!!
