Epson’s most advanced line of photographic papers, developed specifically for the demanding needs of an exhibition, Legacy Paper will provide exceptional image quality with deep blacks and rich colors as well as long print permanence for collection-worthy artwork. This 8.5 x 11″ Sample Pack allows printers to test out each of the four new papers, with three sheets of each type: Legacy Baryta, Legacy Platine, Legacy Fibre, and Legacy Etching. Each of these papers has its own unique traits but offers a range of matte and glossy finishes as well as smooth and textured surfaces in addition to varying brightness, whiteness, and thickness to fit your specific project.

This sample pack has 3 sheets each of 4 of Epson’s top-of-the-line papers. It’s a great way to try each to find out what you like best. The difficult part is that while they are different they are all excellent, and it’s an interesting problem to choose a favorite.

I love the sample packs because there’s nothing like actually seeing the papers in front of you and using them to make a number of different prints to really get a feel for the paper. I think that this pack was made mostly for photographers. I wish they included the Legacy Textured which is one of my most favorite papers of all time. It’s more a fine art paper though, and it seems that the selection in the package is very much for photographers looking for a semi smooth or smooth surface on the papers such as the Baryta or Platine. Even the most textured paper is still relatively smooth. Still, this is a really great sample pack. I enjoyed printing on each and every sheet and experimenting to learn more about each paper

I purchased sample packages of Epson Signature Worthy and Legacy papers to evaluate and compare the differences between the papers. After printing identical color and monochrome images on my Epson P900 printer using the corresponding Epson ICC profiles and comparing the results on all of the papers, I discovered (to my surprise) that they all looked the same. The main differences were that some of the papers had a semi-gloss finish (Legacy Platine and Legacy Baryta) and the others were matte (Legacy Fibre and Legacy Etching). Other than appearance (all images looking the same) the differences between the papers were thickness, tonality, composition (cotton fiber, alpha cellulose and the presence of optical brighteners -OBA’s), and price per sheet or foot (roll media). I would strongly suggest that printers do a comparison and then determine which paper(s) would suit their needs.
