I have used other types of ink in my epson printer and had nothing but trouble with them. Either the printer would not recognize the cartride or I would get poor quality prints or they would run out way before they should. In the end I found that it is better to spend the extra money on the real epson ink. The quality is much better.

I use my epson prints mostly as outdoor posters/pictures & others have run off the paper Epson stands out spotless, but you must use epson paper with the ink to get these great results. Bit pricing & sometimes hard to find.

I learned that the difference between the 77 and 78’s is not just in price but in quantity of prints you get out of the ink and the lifetime of the cartridge in general. For a few more dollars it’s worth just getting the 77 cartridge. But it’s still good at what it’s meant to do- print things- although if you print lots of photos you may not get much out of it.

As a photojournalist, I often need to burn CDs for clients. I use an Epson Artisan 50 inkjet printer and printable CDs. From experience, I’ve learned that third party ink is problematic and therefore false economy. Therefore, I now use only genuine superior Epson ink in my printer because it’s… well… superior. Besides, a trouble free printer saves time and time is money. Hence… cost justified!
