Epson engineered the 157 Light Black Ink Cartridge for the Epson R3000 Printer. Epson utilized their UltraChrome K3 technology to produce deeper, richer tones.
With fine art printing in the front of their minds, Epson developed light black to be of photo quality. The deepness of your shadows can set the mood for what your picture is saying. Create phenomenal monochrome prints with Epson’s three-level black technology. You will be sure to get the exact degree of black that your picture requires. Control your prints with the Epson advanced tones.

Epson OEM ink cartridges are always consistent and reliable, third party carts are no good.

Epson inks make beautiful images and cost accordingly. The only thing that would make them better is if they cost less.

Despite the small cartridge size, the ink lasts longer than expected. Have found the expiration date can safely be disregarded.

Epson R3000 printer would not recognize this Epson 157 Vivid Light Magenta cartridge purchased Nov 2013 and attempted installation April 2014. Cartridge expiration date 2015. B&H advise they do not warranty past 30 days but agreed to ship a replacement cartridge. So, 5 stars for B&H, 1 star for Epson.

I ordered the Ink to be used in my Epson R3000. All of the inks work fine. I also have a Epson 4800 that uses the same Ink set (different cartridge naturally) but it it make it convenient to be able to use either printer depending on what the job is and the photos match.

Epson inks are expensive, but worth it. The colors resemble dye transfer prints in saturation and sharpness.

Best used on matte paper, actually my printer doesn’t let me use it on glossy paper, unless I lie to my printer. There is photo black as well for gloss.
