Epson engineered the 157 Matte Black Ink Cartridge for the Epson R3000 Printer. Epson utilized their UltraChrome K3 technology to produce deeper, richer tones.
With fine art printing in the front of their minds, Epson developed matte black to be of photo quality. The deepness of your shadows can set the mood for what your picture is saying. Create phenomenal monochrome prints with Epson’s three-level black technology. You will be sure to get the exact degree of black that your picture requires. Control your prints with the Epson advanced tones.

I have noticed lately that when I order ink from B&H the expiration (shelf-life) dates are sometimes nearly expired. Epson lists these inks as having a 2 year shelf life (unopened.) When I get them in I’m noticing I may have 18 months left or only have as little as 6 months left on that expectancy. I’m hoping that does not become a problem for me.

B&H offers the best deal I was able to find for this cartridge. I need to have spares.

You really need to use Epson ink for advanced photo printers? What would the point be in risking an expensive printer with cheap knock off ink? This works well for matte and art papers, but the printer does waste a lot switching from matte to glossy

Fresh ink, recent production date, fast shipping – got it 3 days sooner than ETA.

Epson inks are too expensive if purchased from anywhere. Epson 3000 printer is the slowest printer I have ever owned and you must have ALL of the inks installed to print ANY image, including B&W text.

I use this ink in my Epson R3000 printer. It fits properly and interacts electronically the way it should. Everything is good, unless you would need another color!

The Epson R3000 is an excellent and versatile printer. For best results I only use Epson Inks and papers. Any of the T157 inks produce excellent printed photos

Despite the small cartridge size, the ink lasts longer than expected. Have found the expiration date can safely be disregarded.

Ordered a set of inks for the Epson SP R3000 printer. When the Very Light Magenta ran out and the printer flagged the cartridge, I changed it to the new one. The printer would not recognize the VLMagenta cartridge. Had to use the web site for Epson, and they sent a replacement cartridge. Also called B+H to report the instance. Problem solved. I received excellent support and response from all involved. As for the inks, I can only echo the advice of all the photographers who print: Use the Manufacturer’s inks, and not third party inks. The quality of my prints is exceptional so I wouldn’t think of using any ink other than Epson. If you think about all the $ you have invested why introduce an ink that is not top grade?
