Should have bought these thirty years ago!How many times have you needed a small pick or something similar and of course, didn’t have one. So, you misused a screwdriver? Stole one of your spouse’s crochet hooks? Tried a toothpick?Well, no more. With this Estwing mini pick and hook set you’ve got everything you need. And, they are sharp, strong and durable. For a few bucks, save your screwdrivers and pick up a set of these. LIke I said, I should have done this years ago.

I’ve never wanted a pick until you need one. Usually I used the tip of a nail, but got these because of the 4 styles. Suprised how useful they are now that I can reach for one in my tool box. The four styles are each unique enough to be the right one for the job and the handles are lay well in you hand. The points are hard enough and sharp enough to get into crevices easily.

Really liked the Irwin pick and hook set a lot better than the last set I had. The handles are larger and easier to grip than the other brand. Also the shafts are longer so it makes it easier to use when getting a O ring that is a little deeper in out of a part. I will probably have to get a second set for work now as I won’t want to use the other brand there any longer.

The chrome-plated finish immediately gives these tools a great appearance, and the rubberized coating on the handles gives them a nice ergonomic feel. The knurled edge also ensures good grip, when working on more precise tasks. The variety of angles in this set lends it to a wide variety of applications. A few examples for each:The straight pick can be used for scribe lines, reaching in to hit a tiny reset button on a router, and breaking the seal of a new caulk tube. The hook is especially nice for hooking around wires in smaller electrical installations, but also can be used for day-to-day things (such as retrieving a ring that you dropped down a drain… oops). The other angles are nice for pulling o-rings off of irregular shafts, or something as simple as untangling that knot that your fingernails simply can’t untangle. Before purchasing, I would warn the buyer from using these to pry objects with excessive force (like removing a deeply imbedded heavy-duty nail, perhaps, from wood). The handles do feel lightweight, which raises some concern that the handle could crack, if used inappropriately.

These Mini Picks and Hooks from Estwing are thoughtfully designed and work well. The handles, just under 3/4″ diameter, have a slightly knurled rubber-like coating that made it surprisingly easy to maintain a firm hold with only a light grip, so it was easy to manipulate the tip into position. I used the 40-deg tip to scrape rust build-up on a drain stopper and the fishhook tip to remove a hose washer. In both cases, the tip felt very strong and well-suited to the job. The various tip angles, ranging from a straight awl (0-deg) to a fishhooked curve give plenty of options for finding just the right tool. These are a very handy set of picks to have in your toolbox.

This is a great set. The best is the insulated handles.Often times if you need to pull a cotter pin out, put a regular pin out.Working on a engine, plumbing parts, or electrical boxes.Insulated handles help you get a grip, keep you from getting shocked, and if you are working in the cold or any time you need gloves on, they give to a better hold.Just the right size for close quarters work.

Used to use nails, bent coat hangers or paper clips, but now able to use these babies! Nice assortment of pick and hooks for various tasks. Quality made with gripable handles and nice length for typical uses – retrieving washer and scratching crud out of corners in tight spots. can use to mark drill holes in softer wood. Would NOT recommend using as a punch, as they’re really not designed for that – only handheld use. Nice products! I could see an occasional need for one with a longer shank, but will get out my old trusty coat hanger for that one.

Excellent build quality. Picks are sharp and sturdy. Steel has no flex and made well. Tips stay sharp. Handles are comfortable and easily managed in hand. I had oily hands and still they did not slip while poking and prying. I’ve had other pick sets that are very hard to hold and spin even with dry hands. These have found a permanent place in my toll box.

Theses tools are very handy on many different size jobs. I have used them to retrieve thing out of small places that other tools wouldn’t fit or just not able to do the job. The straight awe is especially hand for starting anchor hole in sheet-rock and a starter for drilling hone in most any wood. The handle material is rubberized and allows for a good grip.

The Estwing model 42450 four piece mini pick and hook set is a handy addition to any tool set. One of the first things I tried it on was removing o-rings where they were in a recess. With the 40° pick I was able to lift the o-ring and then grab it with the hook. I found the 90° pick made removing old garden hose washers a breeze. I would have imagine there will be plenty more instances where these will be very handy.
