I use this in framing and assorted other volunteer work for habitat for Humanity. I saw a pro carpenter with one. He used it to hammer nails that were inaccessible to a framing hammer. I got one soon afterwards, and found it very useful in close quarters. I have driven nails through metal straps into joists in places with only 8 inches of room by using the side face to strike the nail. It’s also heavy enough to move framed sections or boards slightly when you need just a little movement. When some other people noted that, they began calling it “The Persuader” Several people on the jobsite borrowed it, and all found it very useful. I gave one to another of our workers when she took a job in a different state, and she was thrilled. I carry it around in a bucket on wheels, and frequently find jobs that only it can do well. Overall, a very useful hammer.

I buy mostly Estwing products, but this particular one I found on the side of the road. It must have fallen off someones work truck. It has scuff marks from being run over and has a slight bend in the handle, but it works as good as new.

Nice Hammer overall. I like the padded grip and body length.

For general strike power and ease, the three pound short handle is the best choice, especially when used with chisels. Bigger and heavier is not always better. If you are using a heavy hitter with one hand, the size and weight of this hammer is the absolute best, as it provides better swing power with less fatigue.

Compact and heavy enough to drive posts in the ground to a depth of the 2 feet needed to secure bush upright.

This drilling hammer is well balanced, with a comfortable handle that helps absorb the impact because of the cushioned end on all their rubber handled products. Not much change by Estwing over the years because they have always made high quality hammers and prying tools but one change they did make several years ago was the adding the cushioning to the handle end. The shorter length of this tool over the majority of other brands on the market is very helpful when your in cramped areas trying to drive spikes or use this hammer to knock lumber apart during a demolition project.

I love this little sledgehammer, I call it my sister sledge. I use it for my rockhounding hobby to smash open rocks. It’s small enough to fit my backpack, but heavy enough to smash open thousands of rocks with no signs of quiting. I love the handle that my small hands can hold easily, and use for hours without tiring. The grip is great and didnt get slippery even when I was using it at the river. Everyone should have one!!

This is a replacement hammer that I got for one that I had for over 30 years (it was stolen). Made in USA and great quality. If you want a tool that will last you a lifetime get a made in USA Estwing product. There is no Chinese made products that can come close to the durability of Estwing tools.

This is a great little hammer. I have been using them on and off for years. I recently finely bought one for myself. I find that I am using it almost everyday at work. I also did a quick video review of it . https://youtu.be/xYJk5E4zeu0

Went looking for a small sledge. I have over two dozen hammers for various purposes (rawhide, wood, nylon, non-marring, 6 kinds of nailers, wood handle, composite, non-marring, what-have-you… even a damascus steel hammer made from 200-year old anchors, and then a slew of metalworking hammers). Don’t laugh… you’ll have the same some day I hope. A hammer is the tool that defines man.I needed a small sledge for landscape markers, and was looking for 4lb. Another Estwing brought me to the store, but it was made in Indonesia and had a fiberglas handle (yellow). I always check the swing on a hammer, much like you check the swing on a bat. This was $4 or $5 more, but it has a perfect swing. And it swings like 4 pounds. It’s all steel – no fiberglas neck. No way to wreck this thing in the heat of a showdown with the stubborn crap we deal with. This is a jewel of a hammer. Thank you Estwing for making this available… there are some of us that can feel quality and some of us that care for USA goods.
