This is an excellent hammer, I have had mine for a number of years and built a lot of projects with it from decks to garden sheds and it has performed flawlessly. It is a comfortable hammer and the nylon handle seems to absorb some of the shock when hammering in 3.5 common nails, as a result you just keep going, very nice finish that lasts, a top quality tool that is well worth the price.

Finding a durable, comfortable, and precise hammer that will work job in and job out can be difficult. From years of experience, using multiple different hammers, my first choice is the Estwing hammer. The grip drastically reduces the amount of vibration you feel when you are hammering. The grip also fits comfortably to the shape of your hand. Estwing stands behind their hammer by stating the handle should never come off. The hammer is well-balanced, so I fatigue more slowly and use less energy than with other hammers I have handled. My brother, who has been a carpenter for the past 10 years, still uses his original Estwing hammer. His hammer has shown to be very durable and still works as well as the day he first used it. The Estwing hammer is worth the price and I would recommend it to anyone.

I have had this hammer since the mid 90’s. Small, good weight, very strong. Always makes great hand cuts using the chisel end. I have used for building everything from skyscrapers, schools, small buildings, home repairs.. thee ultimate hammer. If you need a great hammer and you do masonry work, this is the best hammer in the world !!!

I use both the 28 Oz. Milled Face, Framing Hammer with Shock Reduction Grip for framing and heavy use and the Estwing 20 Oz. Rip Claw Hammer W/shock Reduction Grip fro finer lighter work. The 28 OZ. takes the effort out of driving nail after nail on the job site; it drives straight and has the strength to handle the punishment that day to day usage offers. The shock reduction grip greatly reduces the stress on your hand and wrist from the repetitive impact that is traditionally found on the job site. The 20 OZ which is just as strong and offers the same impact protection as the 28 OZ works well for those lighter finer jobs. The 20 OZ does not have the weight to drive framing nails all day but will perform in a pinch or limited heavy use, the 20 once is more for those finishing jobs but works well as an all around performer. In Summary the 20 OZ is an all around good excellent performer; it will drive everything from framing nails to finishing nails and is probably your best bet if you are planning on only having one hammer. For those heavy jobs there is nothing like the clout that the Estwing 28 OZ club can provide.Best of luck with your next project, My wife tells me our next project is a deck on our new house.Ron

I’m not a bricklayer but I wanted a hammer to clean the mortar off of old bricks and to cut them as needed. This hammer fit the bill perfectly. It is very well-made and the 20 oz. size is exactly right for me. You could never wear it out or break it. Estwing hammers are made in the USA and that is something I value when buying any products and especially tools. To top all of this off Home Depot had the lowest price that I could find online and since I ordered over $49 I got free shipping to my home!

I began to appreciate the importance of a metal body hammer after I started breaking the wooden handles on cheap ones. The Estwing has been holding up with no problems. The grip is still in good shape after lots of use.
