Pros: -functions great splitting those stubborn wood rounds (have split up to 25-27″ rounds so far)-Durable-neat flail end helps with extra push to separate the piecesCons: -while blue paint looks neat – it comes off onto the wood rather quickly-feels a bit light (e.g. does not appear to have the density where it matters the most)-Does not feel sharp initially (likely will need sharpening early in its life)Overall functions as intended to help split those stubborn log rounds; I utilize a combination of an axe (split smaller portions) and wedge/sledge hammer combo (stubborn splits or bigger rounds). Wish it had a bit heavier/more efficiency with sharpness. Clearly a durable wedge that takes a beating however may need sharpening earlier (as expecting with most wood splitting tools which need TLC/sharpening often and sometimes even after purchasing).

Used it to slit nearly a truck load of cottonwood. There was some flattening of the wedge head but overall the product did what was expected. It did get stuck a few times in larger pieces or wood and pieces were there were knots. Overall, I would buy again as it’s small and easy to transport for camping and small jobs.

The Estwing 5 lb. Sure Split Wedge is great once you’ve been able to insert it into a crack of any wood piece BUT it struggles to get/crate that initial crack in the wood.

It gets the job done. The wedge pops out a little too easy in hard wood. The wings cause the wedge to pop out in hard wood. Tip could be tapered a little further to keep the wedge in the stump. I prefer wedges without the wings.

Splits very nicely. Separate evenly and don’t get stuck easily. I’ve tried a “four way” splitter with a pointer end and this blows that it off the water. I’m just not sure why they painted the striking end since the paint chips off upon first hit.
