I have only used it sparingly. Heavy and useful if you have a situation where you need a wedge.

It Did exactly what it was supposed to do to help Split wood.

Worked well. Was able to split a recently cut pine tree that was over 2’ in diameter.

OK. Needed to sharpen mine, thinning the tip, out of the box, in order to get them to “start”. Competitive brand of 4 lb. Twisted Wedge by GroundWorks were superior and relegated the Estwings to secondary duty.

I bought this splitting wedge and believe it is the best option. I also purchased two other designs by another manufacturer (Truper). The others were lower price, but I didn’t like the design of the others. One was just a simple basic wedge – probably okay and lower price, but if you are looking at the Estwing you probably want a nicer product. The other “pro” wedge considered was lower weight and had a more pointed tip which I feared could break off. Happy with the Estwing. Crack on!

Sharp edge, good weight!

Does a good job of splitting where other wedges can get stuck

My son and I have split most of a tree using this to get through 24-30″ diameter pieces. We try a few times with the maul and if it doesn’t do it, he says, “let’s do the wedge”. Much better success rate.

The wedge is very smooth and pops out easily in sappy fir wood. To resolve this, I bead welded rows across each wide side. After that, I would give it an excellent for it grabbed well.
