The axe feels good in the hand, is sharp and ready to use. Tried it on a 5 inch hardwood tree branch and on some 1 inch saplings. well balanced and with enough weight to make the job easy. Waiting for the zombie apocalypse to use it in self defense.

Better then wood Hawks and Axes for about the same price .These will not break like the wooden handled ones. I strongly suggest you make your own blade cover and dress them up a bit , camouflage paint .The axe’s use in warfare goes back to the days of Vikings . A paracord wrap and lanyard provides a safe and secure grip.These Axes and Hawks from ESTWING are made in the U.S.A. A great camp or survival tool + they both chop wood for Fires or Shelters .

I purchased this axe after reading the reviews and my great experience with Estwing hammers over the past 32 years. This axe made short work limbing the 1st tree that fell during the recent wind storm here in the pacific northwest. I chose an axe for the exercise but limbing the tree took less than 15 minutes. Branches 1 inch or less took 1 swing. I wound up with the zombie killer black due to the store did not have the leather looking one in stock. The sheath appears to be durable/secure and loads from the bottom. My buddy Stihl and I will buck it up later.
