I have a lot of experience with Estwing tools and one of my favorites is their one-piece forged hammers with the rubber handle. I was very pleased to get this Axe which has the very same design I know and love. The steel seems quality and the design is curved well and comes sharp enough (but not too sharp, mine could not shave) to chop everything from sticks to small branches, has enough weight to hammer things with the smooth face, and is pleasant to use with the shock reduction grip that comes standard with many other Estwing products. Sometimes I like bright tools and other times I hate them for some reason, however I am a big fan of the bright orange rubber handle that is normally blue, but in this instance I will never be able to lose this axe. The stake puller is a nice addition however I don’t see myself ever using it. Another thing I like is how this axe is made in America, except the sheath which is somewhat cheap, however I will be replacing it anyway, All in all a quality little hatchet. my new favorite in fact.

Great little hatchet. Bought as a gift for my 8 year old son. He chopped a ton of small trees for the camp fire.

Bought this to keep in my truck just in case someone wanted to take my personal stash of TP. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet. But it looks cool/menacing.

Very sharp, I used it to get rid of a palmetto plant that was growing too close to my house. Awesome results!

I use for arborist work. Handle is very comfortable for hammering in felling wedges and it’s just the right size.

The axe has been splitting small pieces of mill ends for almost a month now. It holds a sharp edge, has a good feel and weight to it, and it should work well for pulling tent stakes as well. It does not have a flimsy feel to it when struck against a sizable piece of wood, and so I will keep it in the truck when we travel. A lot of axes feel like they vibrate in your hand when striking wood. This does not.

Just what I expected, High quality tool with a great grip. I use the butt of the hatchet to place wedges when chain sawing. Easy to hold in my tool belt, which gives me quick access. Also, the bright orange color makes it very easy to find when it’s set down among branches.
