I have been working with metal for around 22 years and have always used a abrasive wheel chopsaw and never thought anything negative about it until I recently decided to do some research on buying a new saw. I found the evolution saw and did a bunch of research on it. I purchased the saw and have used it to make 90° cuts on 2″x2″ 14 gauge metal for a security gate I’m working on. This saw cuts super straight, accurate & clean cuts (with little to no clean up). Cuts very fast and metal is cool to the touch right after cutting. Instead of leaving a bunch of metal and abrasive dust it leaves smaller chip like shavings that are very easy cleanup. I was 100% happy with this purchase. One thing I do see in the future is buying a metal evolution blade instead of the multi purpose blade it comes with. I almost bought the Dewalt abrasive saw for around $200. Glad I didn’t because this saw is only another $30 or so more. I am excited to see how long the blade last compared to an abrasive blade. I also like the guard and how it operates. A awesome purchase for a do it yourself or a home fabricator/welder.

I bought this to cut 2″ 14 gauge square tubing for making some workshop tables. I’ve also used it to cut 2×4 lumber and some aluminum thick wall tube. Here’s my thoughts after about 120 cuts.Pros:- It’s versatile. I finally have a saw that I can cut literally any stock I will use.- It’s cheap. Try to find another cold cut for less than 300 bucks.- It’s portable. The main reason I bought this over a horizontal bandsaw was the versatility and the small form factor. Also nice not having to have to deal with a coolant sump. That being said, it does weigh like 60 pounds.- It’s fast. A 90 degree cut in my steel tube was about 8 seconds. A horizontal bandsaw would be 45 seconds to a minute.Cons:- It’s not the best for steel. If you are going to cut exclusively carbon or stainless steel, I recommend getting a horizontal bandsaw instead. You can get them for about the same price and you’ll get much more precise cuts.- It’s not rigid enough for a metal saw. You aren’t going to get super accurate cuts on this. Cutting my steel square tubing, my cuts drifted outward approximately .03″-.06″ from the top of the cut to the bottom of the cut. It also seized a few times when it grabbed the steel at a weird angle, making a large gash across the cut.- The fence/clamp is TERRIBLE. Seriously, dial the fence in at 90 degrees, torque it down, and then use a V block to cut angles. And don’t torque it down too much – it’s not very rigid and will move where you are cutting! I expect this stupid “moving fence” design from a cheap abrasive cutoff not from a “premium” saw.- Pet peeve, but the height of the deck is not the same as any dimensional lumber I have which made propping my hanging stock a bit more annoying. – It’s LOUD. Wear ear protection, folks! All this being said, I will definitely keep this saw, but I’m not going to sell my sliding compound miter saw (and probably will also buy a horizontal bandsaw for more precise metal cutting). I love the portability and speed and will use this when I quickly need to trim things to size.

I have several Evolution tools and, as always, this is another top notch unit. Saw cuts perfectly. Very impressed with the purchase.

Very fast cutting, no heat, surfaces ready to weld. Angle adjustment could be better. Compared to regular cut off saw with fiber blade it is 10 times better.

I would recommend the 14 inch cold saw

Good Tool for the price. Very slight blade deflection on larger cuts. Nothing that can’t be ground true.

Tool is amazing. Cuts metal like it’s a piece of wood. Metal isn’t hot after cuting.

Great Product! I also bought a diamond blade, which I used to cut 100’s of pavers for a project I was doing. Very flexible and versatile saw. The cuts were very consistent. I can’t wait to try it the multi-use blade it came with for wood and steel.

I’m amazed how well this saw works. It replaced a Dewalt chop saw that wore out. No compassion. Extremely happy with this purchase.

This saw has made my life easier already not having to use my grinder to cut metal. Perfect cool cuts every time. I wish the base was made a bit sturdier but it does the job

The saw worked very well. It performs so muck better than an abrasive cutting chop box, no sparks and much quieter.

Greats saw for the money. I’d buy it all over again. Not perfectly square cuts but I didn’t expect that. Cuts easily through metal.

Cuts great right of the box. To cut precise angles takes some setup time but the cuts that it makes more than make up for it.
Marcia Mosciski (verified owner) –
Cuts better than I had expected and with the feature of cutting angles allows repeated miter joints without guessing. The slide on “V” clamping head secures as well as centers round stock for safe cutting.

The reviews speak for themselves! It’s a great saw for the money…just take your time when cutting metal and the blade will thank you for it! btw… buy a proper metal cutting blade as it will cut more efficiently.

The saw makes short work of the 11 gauge tubing and sched 40 pipe I was cutting. I was able remove the vise and made a custom fence to allow a 72 degree cut. Very flexible, cool-cutting saw!

First used it to cut aluminum tile trim, did a great job! I have had abrasive cut off style from Harbor and this is a great improvement! Very solid construction.
