I live in LA and the tap water here is mostly clean, but you’d never know it by just drinking it… it tastes terrible! So, when I got my first RO System last year, I was finally kind of excited to have clean good-tasting water coming out of my tap. But the reality was that the old filter I bought made no difference in taste!!! I checked the particle ppm and did a cloriform test and those numbers were lower, but it still tasted terrible!I told my self, “Since I’ve lived with nasty water my whole life, I can wait 6 more months, then replace the old filters so I don’t waste so much money…”6 months pass and it’s time to do the replacement. This time I do my research. I check high and low, read all the reviews, made a few calls to companies and finally I understood exactly what I needed to do. So, with full confidence that my research had led me to the correct buying decision, I bought this Express Water KDF Filter.The delivery-time was short, but excruciating! I was again super excited for good-tasting water and couldn’t wait to try it out. And, wow, I can’t tell you how good it feels when something meets your expectations, and surappses them! This filter beat the hype!TDS and cloriform levels are even lower, and the water tastes GOOD. FINALLY. It also smells a bit better. I never noticed my water had a smell before, but now since it’s gone it makes such a big difference.Sorry for the lengthy monologue, but I just had to share my journey to find good-tasting and clean water.

I have purchased four of these in past as I run two of these in a three filter Express Water system with a sediment filter as first filter. This filter completely cleaned up my water. I had a lot of orange rust/iron stains in tub, sinks, appliances, etc. as well as the sulphur smell. We have a deep water well and a lot of minerals in it. The water now has zero smell, zero taste and all staining is gone. This is at our river cabin that we use and also rent. We have had nothing but rave reviews on how great the water from renters. I also think the water feels softer when we shower. Not cheap as I wish it was less, but they seem to last six months no problem and beats running a water softener that will be destroyed in two years with our water condition.

I bought this filter as part of the Express Water whole house filter system. It is the middle filter in that system – SED, KDF, Carbon. I had my well water tested before installing the filter and the iron content was .33 mg/L. This was high enough that the water was visibly brownish. I retested after the filter install and the iron content was down to 0. It worked well. I did also have a small amount of arsenic in the water – 3.9 ug/L. The filter only removed some of this, down to 2.5 ug/L. I understand that there are two different forms of arsenic and my guess is that this only removes one form. I was told beforehand though that the only way to remove all arsenic is through reverse osmosis. So I also have an RO filter for drinking water.

I bought this filter to replace my old filter. This new filter gets similar numbers on TDS and has the same taste – in other words both filters did their jobs perfectly. But I’ve noticed that this new one also doesn’t choke the water pressure like the old one. So, I’m very pleased with it.
