FYI, never wrote a product review before. I had two concerns when considering this filter: First, the well water serving this renovation project house turned the white porcelain toilets yellow and brown bec of iron (tested at 1 PPM) and manganese (tested at 0.1 PPM). And I second, we drink a lot of water and I was concerned about the taste of the tap water. Took a chance that this filter would do the trick. And… It’s FANTASTIC. The water is now crystal clear, toilets are clean. And the water, right out of the kitchen tap, is the best water I’ve ever tasted. WAY better than any bottled water you’ve ever had. I’d pay money for that water.Installation was drop dead easy for the plumber, took him two hours, but prob could have been done faster. The plumber also installed a bypass for our lawn sprinkler system and outdoor faucets so that that water wouldn’t run thru the filter and use it up. I emailed the plumber the installation instructions and a picture of the install location ahead of time, so he’d know what parts to bring.We’re one week into using this filter. Overall, VERY happy with this purchase, so far. Only question now is how easy the filter changes will be. Won’t know till I do one in 9-12 months. Also, our plumber was dubious about how long the gauges would last. He said that eventually they’ll break and start leaking. We’ll see. For my house, these gauges were completely unnecessary. One piece of advice he gave me was to install the filter with either a pan underneath it (to collect water), or install in an area where a leak or water spill won’t matter (esp when changing the filters, or if the gauges leak).Oh, and if you’re considering this purchase, keep in mind that this filter system is LARGE, much larger than you’d guess from the pictures. The frame is about 24×30″. Each of the three filter canisters is about 5-6″ in diameter and 18″ tall. But it has all that information in the installation manual, which you can download off the HD webpage.

Here in LA the tap water is ok compared to national averages, but I still wouldn’t dare drinking it. All kinds of lead and chlorine and flourine etc. poullte it. To be on the safe side, I put one of these whole house filters in. The water may look and smell safe, but it doesn’t mean that it is!

The system is really easy to install and we feel it even looks attractive for what it is. We bought this system as we felt it would 100% alleviate any concerns we had about the well water and pipes in an old house we purchased this year. We have only had it installed for a few weeks but so far so good and I have tasted the water it’s crystal clear and fresh tasting! We still plan to have our water tested before using it for mass consumption just to be sure. The replacement filter package seems a little spendy, but due to their size I’m sure we will be changing them less often than smaller ones, and we also put a flushable sediment filter before the system as we knew there would be a fair amount for a while, just to save the finer micron filters from being hit so hard immediately.
