I bought this to make ¾” dowels so I could plug up some tuner holes in a few guitars and basses I have. They all need new tuners, and some of the tuners come with different sized posts. So I put this plug cutter in my drill press and made some hard maple dowels. This is the way to do it because you could buy a dowel rod and plug it up but that’s end grain and won’t be as strong. Regular Titebond is the glue to use, and I used a ¾” Fisch Forstner Bit to drill into the guitars peg heads. Man, that was a tight fit. A tight fitting dowel is fun to hammer through..No matter the use for your plugs and dowels: make it with a Fisch Plug Cutter.
