I purchased the Fractal Design Ion+ 860 PLUS Platinum modular PSU with the highest regard and confidence in Fractal Design as a company. This PSU is yet another example of a product engineered and built with excellence as the standard. The 860 is overkill for my build (a music production PC), but since B&H did not have the 660 or 760 in stock at the time I felt the extra $20-30 for an 860 (that future-proofs my system in the event I want to add a second GPU) was justifiable. I have never heard the fan running – and that’s what you want with a PC intended for music production – a silent machine.

I just retired from a long career as a lawyer and I wanted to do something completely different and relaxing for my first week off of full time work. I do a lot of photography as a hobby and I have many tens of thousands of high resolution photographs. I had been using the same computer for about 10 years, but it was getting very slow, I was running out of storage and various parts were showing their age. Therefore, I decided to spend my first week building a new computer myself for the first time. This power supply was easy to install. It is a solid piece of kit. The instructions were helpful, and it came with all of the cables and screws necessary to hook everything up. Long story short, much to my joy and amazement the computer has run flawlessly from the instant I plugged it in and pushed the on button. I could not be happier. The system was fun to build, I learned a lot about building and setting up my own system. Also, I have to say thank you to the people at B&H. They patiently answered my questions when I was deciding what components to purchase. The folks that I talked to were very knowledgeable and helpful. They promptly helped me to swap out a couple of components which were delayed due to back ordering, so all of the parts were ready when I was to finish the project. THANK YOU.

I use this to power my TR 3960 + Nv 2080 super system. Very quiet and is well built. Definitely worth the price if you don’t need RGB in the system.
