The Freeman PFL618C Pneumatic 3-in-1 15.5-Gauge and 16-Gauge 2 in. Flooring Nailer and Stapler is an excellent choice for the installation of 1/2 in. to 3/4 in. solid tongue and groove hardwood flooring. This air powered tool is compatible with 15.5-Gauge 1/2 in. crown staples, 16-Gauge T-cleats, and 16-Gauge L-cleats from 1-1/2 in. to 2 in. for all three types of fasteners. The lightweight body of this combination flooring nailer and stapler is constructed of die cast aluminum, with a hardened steel 1-piece drive blade for durability. 2 interchangeable no mar base plates provide stability for this versatile tool and prevent damage to finished flooring surfaces, ensuring professional results for DIYers and construction contractors. Recent upgrades have been made to the shape of the foot, along with adding a semi-quick release for easier access to the drive blade in the event of a jammed fastener. Other features include an ergonomically designed handle to reduce fatigue during use, and an air filter/anti-dust cap to protect internal components from debris. Never did flooring in my life. Watched a lot of Youtube videos though. The nailer is very light. Getting started was quick and easy. just read the instructions. I laid 1000 sq ft. Added oil as required. Warning: if you are in a tight spot and you can’t make good contact with the plunger, use a straight finish nailer. I needed to use one often. Good luck, take your time and use helpers to save on scrap. I .001% of scrap because of my helpers selecting the exact sizes I needed.

Easy to assemble, easy to use. I have used staples, T-cleats and L-cleats. Had 2 jams with L-cleats until I realized I was over-loading the feed mechanism (when it says 100 limit, it means 100 limit). Jams were a bit time-consuming to clear, but process was straight-forward.

Not sure how to rate this tool. Have only put down about 200 sq. ft. of 3/4″ t&g, oak flooring. So far this nailer has been great. No problems. Doing pre-finished in a bedroom. Takes longer because you have to be more careful with each piece for nice fit. For this price, I wouldn’t want to rent for as much as I plan on doing. Came with male air connector that didn’t match mine. Changed that and began nailing away.
