I kept having problems formatting with other hard drives. This one is pretty much plug and play. I’m using it daily last few months with no issues what so ever.

It comes with usb-c to usb-c and usb-c to usb-a. It’s still a hard drive, not an SSD. Also not thunderbird 3, so this is not a way to expand your internal access rate.
Thora Waelchi (verified owner) –
That’s the best portable choice.

I use the portable hard drive with my Macbook Pro 15 with Retina display to (1) backup my laptop and (2) as a storage drive for my digital photo files.

I received this drive as part of a promotion that arrived with a G-SPEED shuttle that I purchased. This G-Technology 2TB G-DRIVE mobile USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C External Hard Drive is the worst drive that I have ever used. I have tried to store data on it multiple times only to have my Finder (MAC) crash and the data stored on the drive lost. Every time this happened the drive had to be reformatted. This happened over and over again, so I tried storing the same files on an old Hitachi 3TB internal drive that I have mounted on and external BlacX. All the files loaded with no error. I would not purchased this G-Technology 2TB G-DRIVE mobile USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C External Hard Drive under any circumstance. It is dangerous for data storage.

Was recommended this product to go along with my Mac Air and it has been amazing. Small, sleek, and portable.

Easy to use, dependable, reasonably price, and everything it says, slim and sleek. A piece of equipment that’s difficult to criticize.
Gage Murray (verified owner) –
After a short time and little use, this device will no longer mount, so it is unusable. The support site is almost impossible to navigate, and the live chat simply does not respond. Avoid this product.

I have used G-Technology drives for several years after recommendations via Apple for backing up my MacBook Air data. Reliable, fast, and stable….lightweight and compact. I keep one at home, travel with one, and have a third at a vacation home….all for backing up my laptop. And, B& H, for my most recent purchase had the best pricing….I was truly surprised that their price was substantially lower than Best Buy so I will continue to check B& H first.

Excellent turnaround time for quick transfer of 4k files from one computer environment to another.
Magdalena Hermiston (verified owner) –
Seems fine except it is partitioned, and Disk Utility says it can’t combine the partition into a single hard drive. The partition is a tiny sliver of the drive – more annoying than it is an actual burden.

Large and Fast Data access

What’s to be said other than it works great. I use it for the Time Machine backup on my new M1 iMac. Highly recommended.
Raul Wisozk (verified owner) –
Two of us used these in our office and both of ours died within 3 months – hard drive stopped mounting, no way to repair or recover. Would not buy again.
Dayna Gaylord (verified owner) –
Solid performance and very fast. USB-C is the only way to go
Tod O’Kon (verified owner) –

Nice addition to my IMac, turned it on and backed up to Time Machine all my files. Quiet, easy to set up. Happy so far with my choice,

Amazing form-factor, reliable performance, and proven over a good period of time. This is my second purchase of this item. The first one I purchased a couple years ago, and it’s working great as a Time Machine Backup via my Airport Extreme. This one is being used as a media drive to shuttle things back and forth between an assistant editor. Works great and the USB3 gives a nice boost of performance–over 100MB/s in Read & Write speeds.
