Designed for demanding workloads, a protective aluminum core helps prevent overheating to maintain high levels of performance while a custom enclosure insulates the drive to prevent the exterior from heating up while in use. Additionally, its rugged design provides shock-resistant storage that protects against drops up to 9.8′ and a crush-proof rating of up to 1000 lb.
G-Technology’s 2TB G-DRIVE mobile Pro Thunderbolt 3 External SSD is preformatted for macOS 10.13 and later, and may be used with Windows 10 via a simple reformat. Included is a Thunderbolt 3 cable which provides bus power, meaning that no external power sources are required and protection is provided by a limited 5-year warranty.
Please note that this drive will only work when directed connected to a Thunderbolt 3 port using a Thunderbolt 3 cable. It will not work on Thunderbolt 2 systems using a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter, as not enough power is available.

Very happy with this drive. I tested it with Blackmagic Design’s Disk Speed test. I get just under 2250MB/s write and 2350MB/s read speeds.

Everything it claims to be, very fast, connected easily and stayed connected. The fastest portable drive I have ever used. I only wish I had access to this years ago. On the speed test it clocked in below the advertised speed but i’ve never had a drive that met its advertise speed however in this one connected to my 2018 thunderbolt three Mac did great. If you’re a professional video producer or still photographer it’s pretty much a must-have.

I needed a 500 GB SSD drive ASAP, to be able to work with some new sound libraries. This external Thunderbolt SSD was my choice. Ordered it at 10 pm and it arrived the next day, even with free shipping. Really good B&H service during a pandemic. I have other G-Tech hardware and all of it is exceptional quality. This also has an attractive appearance, *and* came with a thunderbolt cable for at least a $30 savings right there. Not all external SSD’s come with cables, so buyer beware. Plugged in, loaded the files, and bang – zoom. Worked right away.

In looking for a Thunderbolt 3 SSD for my new iMac, I immediately saw that the G-Tech model (now SanDisk branded) was my best bet. Receiving it from B&H, I was impressed at how well built the unit is. So much sturdier and substantial than the small (admittedly non-thunderbolt) SSDs I have. Setting was totally simple since the product is formatted for the Mac. And the speed–incredibly! Highly recommended.
