I use the portable hard drive with my Macbook Pro 15 with Retina display to (1) backup my laptop and (2) as a storage drive for my digital photo files.

I use it to back up my MacBook Pro drive. So far, it does everything fast and with no hiccups.

B&H always has product, the website is easy to navigate, they get the product out, and what else can one ask? This disk drive is super fast (7200rpm), and, at USB 3.0 speed, just what we need for high performance at pretty low cost. Keep it that way!!!

I really love this drive. I am a photographer and use this drive in conjunction with the 4 TB G -Drive. It is great to use as a mobile backup for storing photos. The design is both modern and well made. It is easy to use and very convenient as a mobile backup system. I love it and highly recommend the drive to all Mac users.

It comes with usb-c to usb-c and usb-c to usb-a. It’s still a hard drive, not an SSD. Also not thunderbird 3, so this is not a way to expand your internal access rate.
Alva Dach (verified owner) –
Solid performance and very fast. USB-C is the only way to go

I plugged it in, I wrote to it, it was quiet and smooth and worked perfectly, and so far I’m very happy with it and will probably buy another one soon.

Easy to use, dependable, reasonably price, and everything it says, slim and sleek. A piece of equipment that’s difficult to criticize.

This is one of the best External drives I’ve had in a long time. It works well on my iMac and I’m happy I made this purchase. Would highly recommend this buy for iMac users. I am a music producer with a lot of large sound library files and for a nine SSD drive it’s very good.UBB3 type C connection is an added bonus. I used it on my windows laptop with type C connector before I reformatted it for my iMac and it worked great.B&H offered a great price for it which initially attracted me to coming to the store to buy it.Thank you B&H I can’t wait to see what else you guys got.The best store for my media and electronics Needs hands down

I bought three of these to give as Christmas gifts to family members with Macs; but with a twist. I opened each of the packages and loaded photos and videos specific for each family member. They were photos and videos that I have made through the years that they have never seen. There’s still plenty of room for them to load their own files for safekeeping too. The drives look good with Mac products, are quite small, and as always with any non solid state drive, I wish they were faster. They are, however, plenty fast for most people not transferring very large files. These will be welcomed gifts I believe.

I received this drive as part of a promotion that arrived with a G-SPEED shuttle that I purchased. This G-Technology 2TB G-DRIVE mobile USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C External Hard Drive is the worst drive that I have ever used. I have tried to store data on it multiple times only to have my Finder (MAC) crash and the data stored on the drive lost. Every time this happened the drive had to be reformatted. This happened over and over again, so I tried storing the same files on an old Hitachi 3TB internal drive that I have mounted on and external BlacX. All the files loaded with no error. I would not purchased this G-Technology 2TB G-DRIVE mobile USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C External Hard Drive under any circumstance. It is dangerous for data storage.

I’ve had a 5400RPM version of this drive for about two years and have always loved it. The 7200RPM version just ups the ante! It is super small, super fast, and I’ve never worried about lost or corrupted data. Highly recommended!

I purchased this to use for my photographs instead of storing them on my MacBook Pro. I plugged it in and it started working like it was supposed to. No issues at all. The drive is super quiet, especially compared to its big brother, the 6tb drive that I use on my iMac. That one is really noisy. I always feel like it’s going to take off in flight with all of the noise that comes out of it. But this one is great! Small. Quiet. Quick. I use Carbon Copy Cloner to keep the drives in sync with no problems. The size makes it easy to pack away in a briefcase for travel. I would definitely recommend it.
