Excellent turnaround time for quick transfer of 4k files from one computer environment to another.

This is my second g drive and I love it ! It’s perfect for what I need – durability and easily transported. I do wedding photography and I am very picky when it comes to products to store my photos on. I trust this brand !

Was recommended this product to go along with my Mac Air and it has been amazing. Small, sleek, and portable.
Melyssa Hane (verified owner) –
That’s the best portable choice.

Small and sturdy. It’s as fast as you would expect for USB. Handy for DIT back ups on location.

Two of us used these in our office and both of ours died within 3 months – hard drive stopped mounting, no way to repair or recover. Would not buy again.

Not too much to say as it just works. I needed it because Im running out of space on my 1TB internal SSD on my Mac. I actually bought a slightly different model first. But after I bought it with the intent of permanently moving my video and photo files there, I realized that I would need a backup as well, so I bought this one, but since this one seems to be a slightly newer model with a slightly faster spec, I made this drive the primary and the other G-Drive Mobile the backup for it. It really is a pleasure not having to stick an adapter on the end, since its already USB-C. If youre using it solely on a Mac, delete the utility partition and reformat the drive using Disk Tools to Mac format.

Other portable drives offer USB3 but at 5400 RPM, so the theoretical transfer rate of the USB interface exceeds the drive’s ability to read that data. This 7200 RPM drive is a better fit in terms of improving performance, which has proven useful for high res image scanning.

Needed a drive to backup my iMac, and this was perfect. Plugged it in and away we went! No fuss, no muss – instant solution to my problem.

I’m happy with this hard drive. I’m using my to store my Lightroom master catalog. The faster disk speed and USB 3.0 interface offer good read/write speeds short of going with a SSD option.

1TB G-Drives are great for backing up files. The USB C connection on this model is perfect for me. I can now hook up to my MacBook Pro mid-2018 without using a dongle!

What’s to be said other than it works great. I use it for the Time Machine backup on my new M1 iMac. Highly recommended.

I am in the process of upgrading my entire collection of backup drives and changing my backup storage approach. While my current G-Tech G-Drive mobile 750GB drives with FW800 and USB 2 continue to work perfectly after years of use, I am transitioning to the faster, higher capacity 1TB/USB 3 G-Tech mobile drives for convenience. I will use this drive as a computer backup and store it in an offsite safe deposit box. Future drives will be my carry along drives when working away from home. This external drive has a small footprint, and I believe it is thinner than the FW800/USB 2 or Thunderbolt mobile drives. These drives are very reliable. I’ve had great success with other G-Tech drives and expect nothing less with this one. One thing to note, this drive has a slight tacky feel. At first, this bothered me; however, I think it is a safety mechanism to help prevent the drive from slipping out of your hand. I plan to purchase a few more in the near future.

I have used these G-Drives for a reliable external backup of my photos and other data for several years. This 4TB drive is to replace my past 1 TB G-Drives. It’s a solid drive and works well. I like that it contains both a USB A and a type C cable to use with my MacBook Pro and my NAS. My current 1TB upload was slower to backup than expected. But the slower speed might be due to the source was coming from my NAS over a USB A connection.

small, fast and usb powered. Especially liked USB-C connectors on both end of the cable

Not sure what you can really say about an external HD in a review. For me, I simply don’t trust anyone else with my data than these guys. Great purchase, great price, great help from B&H. Win-win-win!

No complaints. Wish it was faster but that would cost more $$$ for other options.

My wife needed to replace her old Time Capsule, which started having intermittent issues. Getting this drive up and running was as simple as plug-and-play, with her MacBook Pro. Its super quiet and almost vibration free. She doesnt leave it plugged in, so back-ups occur about once a week. If you decide to leave this drive plugged-in, the utility will give you to ability to do back-ups frequently, often several times a day if youre on that long. The drive has been in service since January, and so far, no issues. I dont suspect that there will be a problem given the glowing reviews that I read before buying.

The added capacity for the 256 GB MacBook Air is great and it is fast. I’m not an expert on external hard drives but the transfer of a large amount of files large and small doesn’t make you wish that you hadn’t started the transfer.
