This drive lived on my office desk, no big temperature swings, never dropped, etc. It dismounted itself from my Mac and died taking 2.5 years of backups with it. RMA at G-Tech’s all but unusable website a nightmare. Oh, and you’ll just get a replacement drive IF G-tech honors the limited warranty. Yay. Spend for a Glyph, real WD, Seagate (have used all without incident), but not this G-Tech. In 28 years of computer use, had only one other (spinner) drive die, and that was due to a hard knock while writing to a spinning disc. No such excuse here.

This drive has been extremely handy when I’m on the go. It’s great for temporary storage of videos and video edits.

The white band around it looks a little cheaper than the quality I usually see in G drives…. still works perfect.

I use this hard drive when I’m on the go with my laptop and when I shoot tethered, on location, with my laptop. It’s simple to put the files on my iMac once I get home. I love this little hard drive. It’s also easy to carry. I just wish it came with a carrying case.

Took a split second to get up and running…

It is compact portable and fast!

It works as advertised. My Mac was filling up with my iPhoto Library so I copied the Library to the G-Drive and then deleted it on my Mac. Now have plenty of room left on my Mac. I’m amazed how easy it was.

I purchased this product for backing up purposes for my mac. Straight out of the box and plugged in and away she worked. Super easy, light and compact. Great product for saving my information.

I kept having problems formatting with other hard drives. This one is pretty much plug and play. I’m using it daily last few months with no issues what so ever.
Leif Morar (verified owner) –
Seems fine except it is partitioned, and Disk Utility says it can’t combine the partition into a single hard drive. The partition is a tiny sliver of the drive – more annoying than it is an actual burden.

This thing head crashed in less than a year. I’m only going to buy SSDs for on the go from now on. it was simply in my padded briefcase. Loved it till this happened. Don’t worry, I still love G technology as a brand.

Reasonably fast, pocket sized drive. Good value.

The G-Drive mobile is a small and lightweight hard drive that is a great companion to my new Samsung ATIV 9 Plus. Easy formatted for Windows (comes formatted for OS-X), quiet, and the USB 3.0 interface makes it great for those backup copies of photos while on the go.
Lucio Ernser (verified owner) –
I plugged it into my Mac, and it did exactly what it was supposed to do. For a hard drive (i.e., not an SSD) it is fast, and if everything I have read about G-Drive’s is true, it should also be reliable.

In my opinion, this is the best portable hard drive for the money! Better than the LaCie rugged hard drive and way more reliable. Solid construction!
