The 2TB ArmorATD USB 3.1 Gen 1 External Hard Drive from G-Technology is a rugged, all-terrain drive that can take a beating. Built with triple-layer shock resistance, which is made up of a durable rubber bumper, an aluminum enclosure, and internal shock mounts, the ArmorATD can withstand up to 1000 pounds of pressure and drops of up to 3.9′ on a carpeted or concrete floor. It is also IP54-rated, which provides protection against rain, sand, and dust.
G-Technology designed the ArmorATD with a capacity of 2TB and data transfer speeds of up to 140 MB/s. It is compatible with both Windows and Mac straight out of the box and does not require any reformatting. To connect this drive to your host system, there is a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C interface on the drive, which is compatible with Thunderbolt 3. Power is provided through either the USB or Thunderbolt bus, meaning that no external power adapters are required. Included are USB Type-C to Type-C and USB Type-C to Type-A cables.

Great drive. The rubber thing on the edge is overkill, and likely does not do anything other than resist minor bumps. I’d rather have a smaller product with squared edges that I can put in a neoprene sleeve when in my bag.

I have been using G-Technology external drives for 12 years now and they are still working. I have a lot of confidence in this brand and hopefully these new drives will do as well as my older ones.

I love having access to a small drive like this with me on shoots. It’s incredible how far technology has come to have 1TB in such as small drive! Super handy, keep my important files handy on the go!

I purchased four of these drives at a reasonable price, and used them to back up several Macs and to transfer all my data from a 10 year old Mac to my new MacBook Air. No problems, and I am happy that I finally have back ups.

I liked all the features and bought it. However it came with no instructions on how to set it up. It appears to be initially used by Ios, however after a significant amount of time I found a way to set up the drive for Windows 10. I would have preferred further instruction on how to use it on multiple platforms, link Linux as well. I almost returned it until I finally found instruction on how to set it up in Windows as the USB drive was not initially recognized by Windows. Based on my determination, I found the information and since setting it up it works very well and the speed is faster than expected.

I am an audio description script writer. I use the drives to story proxy shows from network so I can do my work. Excellent and affordable way to store the show and play back while I write. QUIET! Smooth. Love them.

This came for “free” with an 18TB drive purchase. I didn’t need it, but there’s no harm in having it around. And the newest generation connector type is a bonus.
