While a flat head screwdriver & mallet work to loosen or secure the retaining nut, these little tools make the job easier.Fyi- this tool is flat and may not work on some panel boxes with the angle or access you have to work with.

I used a tool like this in a past life. Not sure if that company in business any more. Currently design I used the plastic holder from the package to hold it together for storage. Just pull on angle to remove it. Place finger near threads when using the wrench so it goes on ever twist so you are loosening or tightening the connection.

Specialty tool. Works well for the purpose intended. It’s not a Swiss Army Knife, mind you, but when you need to tighten a locknut on a connector, it’s what I’d reach for.
