Bought one and leaked badly. Returned it and got another, same model. Noticed that when screwing the housing on without a filter inside is much tighter than with filter. Installed and leaked again. There are 2 rubber washers on the filter and I removed one and the housing was tight and no leak. All I can say is the filter didn’t fit the housing. Filter was listed on the housing package. I plan on getting 2 thinner rubber washers or O rings.

Easy to intall and liked that it does not come with a filter element. I was able to select an element needed for different filter requirements. I replace the old plastic lines with stainless steel line looks great an should never leak.

imstall was a bit tricky and required a couple of more trips to get all the right fittings. have been fighting calcium particles from my well for a,long time. my new kitchen faucet replaced my old faucet and uses small tubing where5(3 old one had 1/2 pipe. the small tubes clogged daily .

A huge thanks goes out to Carol at the Bonits Springs Fl. store…I had to call twice and it was frustrating getting someone to answer the phone. Once I spoke with Carol, she found the filter and had it at the service desk…thank you Carol for you help.

purchased this because of the universal filter used. it’s not complicated, and it has simple installation. works well with the counter faucet I purchased on home depot. it’s a great product. if GE decides to stop making these filters, I am sure i can find a suitable replacement.

This product mounts up to the wall with no problem, easy to connect to the water lines. The filter needs to be tightened with a filter wrench, to get it to not leak.

Ordered in June 2020 to replace same model which has been installed for about 5 years. Old one was working fine but in the past I’ve experienced these filter housings develop pinhole leaks after too-many years in service (GE support told me chemicals in tap water can cause slow degradation in the plastic over years of time), so now I replace every 5 years. I did not experience the filter size/incompatibility problems others have mentioned. I was able to install the same/usual filter cartridge model I’ve used for many years and the housing tightened properly with no leaks. Note that I use the GE model: UCWRNCH wrench to tighten the housing securely (with the filter mounted on its wall screws), it may be that hand tightening alone might not be enough.I like the fact that there are multiple brands of filter cartridges compatible with this housing which allows me to keep filter replacement costs reasonable. I do wish the housing plastic would last forever but replacing once every 5 years is a minor expense/hassle relative to the amount of good-tasting water I get.

I’ve installed this unit in 12 apartments plus my house. I would give a 5 star rating except a replacement wrench used to unscrew the housing seems difficult to find (maybe someone can provide a helpful comment on where to purchase). But more serious 2 units that were about 8 years old suddenly started leaking. In each case the housing cracked and needed to be replaced. They were hairline cracks that resulted in a slow drip. Fortunately there was no water damage. However if the tenants has been out of town it could have been a different story.

This product is defective. It is leaking water from actual filter, not at the comnectors

It would be nice if GE would make their other cartridges fit this one. This one is for a “C” type. The cartridges seem a bit pricey. This was the only model that home depot offered me at the time

Needed to figure out what connectors to use since they are not supplied with the unit. Hint, Hint….. Overall, easy hook-up.

It doesn’t come with a filter or plumbing hardware, but that’s good since you can choose your own level of filtering from the selection of filters. If you get the better filter instead of the cheap one, you will have good tasting and smelling water. It does take a while to flush it out though when you install a new filter (this has to do with the capacity) but that’s not an issue when you plan accordingly. Ge would do well to not torque the casing so freakishly tight for shipment so people other than strong men can actually open it to get the screws out to mount it to the wall. That was highly annoying, hence the 4-star review. With some 3/8 NPT to 1/4 quick connects I replaced the GE dual stage I had previously that has almost stopped flowing at all due to the poor valving design. This will be much nicer to deal with as I’ll never have a flow issue.

All of the parts needed to complete the installation were not in included. Had hire a plumber to have the right fitting.

The GE filter removed the chlorine taste and odors from our water. Installed it first in our bathroom sink and liked it so much we installed a 2nd filter in our kitchen.
