I’ve only had this under counter filter a short while but I believe it is going to serve my needs adequately. I went from a faucet mount filter to this one because I also bought a beautiful new faucet and there was no way I was going to attach a faucet mount filter to it.

The water tastes great! This unit does not come with a wrench. In order to tighten the canister fully, I had to have one. (My former unit only needed to be hand tightened)

This product was easy to mount, but the connection required some creativity because I wanted to go directly to braided flex hose. The unit came with the wrench to take the housing off when you need to change the filter.

Got stuck installing this on New Years for my mother who didnt want want a double filtration system and didn’t want expensive replacement cartridges either. It didn’t come with the connectors so I included a photo of the brass fitting we used. It was obnoxious to install in a tight place and I had to tighten some of the connections after I hooked it up. Pros: Cost of the unit and filters.Cons: The brass connectors I used (once tightened) made it impossible to tighten the supply line as the nut was too close to the housing of the unit. Connect your supply lines to the brass elbows first, then screw the elbows to the unit. I STRONGLY suspect an oil strap wrench (nylon webbing kind) will be needed to replace the filter in 6 months. Note, this is not a verified purchase as my mother bought it and it’s not linked to my account.

Easy , to assemble and install . I also received exceptional assistance from Dave in the Plumbing Dept. The filter worked as described and removed the chlorine taste from the water.

We have had a filter system like this for about 18 years, made by GE. System came with hardware to install plus a nice metal single counter faucet. Easy to change filters. After 18 years, the canister suddenly split from top to bottom flooding most of the house. Fortunately someone was at home when it happened, otherwise it could have been quite a disaster. I am concerned that maybe there are chemicals in our local county water system that, over time, detrimentally affect the canister plastic.

This housing comes with mounting screws and nothing else. You’ll most likely need 3/8 NPT fittings and a hose to run from the supply line to the housing, and use the existing line from the faucet to the housing. Also have some of the recommended silicone grease on hand for the filter o-ring gasket (making it slippery avoids leaks by dragging the thin o-ring). Assemble fittings and hoses to the housing and supply line before mounting and it’s all easy.

Bought this because our municipal water has had a strong chlorine odor and taste this summer. The filter works amazing, the chlorine taste and smell are gone.A couple complaints… 1. The filter is sold separately!! 2. The water pressure by quite a bit after filter installation

I needed a replacement for the bottom, filter chamber. I came home and water was leaking out of my garage. The very bottom of the chamber had cracked from age and was leaking from the water pressure after five years of service. It was a simple switch out and everything is good. They usually leak around the seal, but this system has worked great for me. I will inspect closer when changing filters. Good luck.

My old SSWFS was 10 years old and developed a leak at the thread area of base. It cracked ad was a very bad leak. The new one is obviously redesigned to solve this issue. They must have had the problem many times. I love the new design. They look identical from the outside, but this one is much better. Thanks.

pretty good water filter. I was surprised when I bought it, the filter element wasn’t included. Went and bought a filter element. Then I had to order a special wrench to get the filter open. I had to buy the connectors for it separately, that was a pain. Other than that I couldn’t be happier.

I previously owned other GE filtration systems that had great options but had a defect when servicing filters. Even though the filter needed fittings, hose, faucet-it was a great retrofit for the other style. As for the review on leaking, all that was necessary was to put a little food grade silocone or vegetable oil on the o-ring. Filter prices are a dream compared to many others with the option for different grade filters.
