So, I’ve been using the GE Shower filter for about a year now and there are both pros and cons to it.The PROS: Reasonable to replace the cartridges (around $10) and they are always in stock at my local home depot store. At the start, it doesn’t affect the water pressure and I don’t feel like my skin is burning and itchy when I get out of the shower which is a huge improvement from where things were at before.The CONS: Doesn’t last anywhere near 6 months. I know my water is really bad but I can barely get through a month on one without it starting to decrease the water pressure and leaving the red iron residue on the tub. It’s also starting to leak, now, more than before.The last time I replaced the cartridge, it seemed to work for about a week and then the water pressure went way down and it started leaking around where the system attaches to the wall pipe. I have had the system for a few years so maybe I need to replace that and then try the newer cartridge again but am just not really sure about this anymore. Hoping to find a different brand that lasts longer and keeps the water pressure, strong.If you have minimum/moderate water issues, this might work for you, but if you have serious mineral water issues, I wouldn’t recommend this unless you are willing to be changing the filters every month.

We had a very high level of chlorine content to the point you could smell it when you walk in the bathroom… upon installing this shower filter system there was an immediate feel of removal of the high content chlorine smell and my skin felt wonderful, just amazing, the difference. Not itchy after my shower… just an immediate difference after installation of the filter. Easy to install. Easy positioning in the shower. I can’t say enough!!! Buy it today… you will not regret it!

What I like about this shower filter is that it has replaceable filter cartridges that are a good value. Also, the shower neck in our house is a little low and this filter raises the shower head a few inches up for me. But, I would recommend that you remove it from the shower neck when you change the filter cartridge. I broke one trying to change the cartridge while it was still installed.

I am on my second filter -the first one broke after 5 years-!There are a few reviews that mention difficulty in replacing the filter-the trick is to mark on the cap, at the initial installation, which way to turn the cover to open it up. Then it is free sailing. Great price and works like a charm.

This is a good filter that fit easily onto my hard-to-fit shower hardware. I suggest one improvement. It is exceedingly difficult to remove the filter cover to change to a new, clean filter. The housing is slick, nothing to grab onto to unscrew it. Adding some traction would help.

I have had the same unit for almost 3 years. My wife, daughter and I shower at least once a day, sometimes twice a day. I would not shower without it. It filters out all kinds of stuff. I even split a filter open just to see and was actually shocked. I have a large shower head the has all kinds of settings and all 3 of us like something different. As with anything, if taken care off it lasts. Highly recommended.

We have had this filter system for 3 years and it does a great job. You can smell the chlorine in our water but when it goes through this filter it takes it all away. It has helped my hair to feel and look better, it use to be dull but now it is shiny again! I don’t have to use as much shampoo so it saves me money too!

I have 2 of these. One is at least 5 years old and the other is 2 years old or so. We have some of the worst water going and the difference is amazing. We also rent so getting a whole home system isn’t happening. I am a little saddened to see that I cannot find these or the filters in the stores anymore. Also the 2nd one purchased is a pain to take apart for replacement. The first one just turns with out issue. Not sure if I’ll be purchasing the filters online or just more to something else which is right in the store.

This unit is amazing! The only reason I give it four out of five starts is because I’ve only had this for 2 days. But so far, so great! I’ve taken two showers so far and could tell the difference in my hair and skin already. The water pressure from the shower head was not affected in the least.The filter housing is WAY too difficult to remove, but can be done. I had to use a metal oil filter wrench for five minutes before thee housing would budge. The wrench with a rubber strap didnt work at all. I didn’t need to change the filter yet, but based on other reviews, I wanted to see if it would be a hassle and indead it is, but it’s not impossible.After a month or so I’ll come back with another update, but so far I could not be happier. I just wish I new about these filters for shower heads 11 years ago when I moved to the country.
