The GE Household Water Filtration Unit filters water at your main water supply to help reduce sediment, sand and rust to help provide clean, clear water throughout your home. Certified by the NSF, the unit has a remote filter light that reminds you when to change the filter (not included). Hardware is included for fast, convenient installation.

It must clearly state outside that cannot be used where exposed to sunlight. It should also more clearly indicate that the cartridge filter is not included. Otherwise it is good quality and easy to instal.

Very easy install,had to buy 2 reducers to reduce from 3/4 to 1/2 inch pipe,and 2 nipples 1)2 inch and 1 braided line for faucet,had already installed at our house before the tankless water heater,this one was installed on cold side of faucet in my cabin built in 1938 so pipes are old and I use water for coffee and oatmeal,great product,I would definitely purchase another one

I had installed this filter quite a few years ago (10?). I walked into my basement a few days ago and the cannister had developed a very small leak, and was spraying a fine mist at my furnace (and my face!) I was able to buy the identical unit, and just replace the cannister. Problem solved.

I have two homes and both are equipped with this filter. It reduces chemical taste, improves water clarity and will extend the life of the water heater and dishwasher. My water heater is drained twice annually and very little residue is evident in the water; the dishwasher has no water marks on the stainless steel door after a cycle. Water from the refrigerator door dispenser is double-filtered and as good as or better than any bottled water. Interestingly, the ice cubes are not much more clear but that is a factor more of trapped air than mineral impurities. One note of caution: Ensure your PRV is operating correctly. The housing of my first filter blew up when my PRV failed at a little over 90 PSI. Fortunately I was home when it happened (I thought the gas heater exploded) and was able to shut off the main water supply within 15 seconds. The pressure was so great the entire filter housing was swollen and distorted. Ironically I would have noticed the problem the next week when the filter was due for changing. I replace the filter at the recommended three month intervals and set a calendar reminder on my cell phone. My filter was professionally installed and has shut offs at either side to facilitate filter replacement. This filter is inexpensive and effective.

I’ve had one of these filters installed in my home for over 15 years. It reduces the chlorine odor and improves water flavor. My wife and I drink a gallon of water daily between us, using the refrigerator water dispenser. This water is double-filtered using both this filter and the refrigerator filter: it tastes better than anything bottled. Ice produced by the refrigerator, if fresh, has no odor and is slightly clearer. We have no skin irritation from showering. Water spots have been reduced when washing dishes and the car. The most telling data point is the water heater. We flush it twice a year and have virtually no residue. A great product reasonably priced. We use food-safe silicone lubricant on the seal and threads and have had no problem with the canister releasing. One note of caution: Make sure your water pressure is set at 60-70 PSI. Our PRV failed a few years after installing the filter allowing water pressure over 90 PSI. The bottom of the canister blew out and would have flooded the basement had I not been home to turn off the water main. Minimal damage but check your water pressure before installing. As a safety measure have a new PRV installed along with the filter.
