I followed the owner’s manual and installed it with the wall bracket. Per their instructions, I screwed in the 3/4″ PVC adapter through the wall bracket and into the filter unit as tightly as I could, but had a very slow leak on the left side. So I took off the adapter, cut away the wall bracket on the left side and screwed in a new PVC adapter. This time I had no leaks. So you may or may not want to install it with the wall bracket. As for the filter unit itself, it is excellent. The filter bypass lever is a huge improvement over my old filter (which didn’t have one). The bypass lever allows you to change the filter without shutting off the water. When changing the filter, turn the lever to bypass, press the red pressure release button, and the filter unscrews easily with the wrench. Very well made.

I have well water and put this in line with my water heater due to sulfur smell in previous tank. When I turned water on brown water became disloged in pipes and went into filter and also water heater due to the filter that comes with unit was not good enough.

This was an exact replacement for an existing unit that lasted 10 years with monthly cartridge changes. I will be happy to get 10 more with this unit. It is a great filter housing, we use 5 micron filters, pre UV unit.

White part of filter housing moves on the holding bracket, allowing Teflon fitting to loosen and leak. Bracket and housing should have been designed to screw into white part, so Teflon can not loosen. Installed 3/25/2019

So far so good. Replacing a 35yo unit. See if it goes that long.

I use two in parallel to keep water pressure normal. With the clear bottle you can tell how good it works.

Replaced a 20 year old opaque unit that developed leaks. Love having a clear housing.

Easy to install. Must be mounted to wall for safety reasons. Stops rust and sediment from my well. Easy to change filter. Recommend rinsing filter cover before installing new filter. How often you change the filter depend on volume of usage and the quality of drinking water. I use mine for the whole house feed.

This was filter was a replacement of my original filter from 2008 due to the fact that the original one finally wore out. I’m on well water and this filter works really great as to water taste and particulates. I use the FXWTC carbon filters which work out very well and, to me, the water tastes just fine. The only thing that I can think of which is a slight drawback is that the handle to turn the filter on and off is very stiff. Changing the filter is very easy – turn the unit off, unscrew the bottom portion, clean it out, pop in a new filter, make sure the “O” ring is seated correctly in the bottom canister unit, reinstall and turn the unit back on and you should be good to go.

Easy to install with compression fittings found in the water heater section. I like the fact that I can visually inspect the filter’s condition before replacing it. I added it as a backup to an already existing filtration system. I installed it approximately 3 weeks ago and I’m happy with its performance.

I bought this product because it exactly met the measurements of the plumbing the previous one was attached to. I’ve had it about three years and through multiple filter changes. We have well water with various sediment issues. I’ve changed the filter about a dozen times and had issues with the red pressure relief valve leaking three or four of the changes. Usually slightly twisting the valve as you operate it, blowing it out, and multiple quick pressing on bypass have solved the issue. Usually it takes 5-20 minutes for the seal to completely reset. The unit is easy to install and except for the red button issue has worked marvelously in our home. The clear canister is a vast improvement over the previous unit. So I would recommend it as the price is right as long as you’ve got the patience to deal with the one issue I’ve found. To GE, seriously, this red button thing is an engineering fail and could fairly easily be resolved in the manufacturing process if you were so inclined. Planned obsolescence perpetrated upon the not particularly handy and unaware I suppose,,,,,

Bought this to replace a much older model that did a fine job of reducing sediment. This one is quite similar and should last as long as the first one.

Great product instantly changed the water and from well water rich w iron.Installed on home and within 5 min water much cleaner.Need to give consumers extra first filter as it receives the initial startup collection of sediment. And filter needs to be cleaned right after then it’s fine.

This purchase was a replacement. The filter is outside and the bottom plastic had hardened and was leaking.
