The GE Household Water Pre-Filtration System connects to 3/4 in. plumbing to filter out sand, sediment and rust from all your household water. The pre-filtration system features a 3-position bypass valve to allow you to change the filter without turning off your water supply. This water system helps to provide clean, clear water for showers, dishwashers and laundry.

Installation went smooth works perfectly no water leaks. Used Oatey fastape for sealing and 3/4 sharbites. Used the tape generously for 3 to 4 rounds and use nail to make the thread groves clear. this will help sharkbite threads to catch with filter threads. Also replaced filter with charcoal filter.The control handle is very tight to twist. I was afraid i am going to break the handle but slowly increased the force on the twist and eventually was able to turn the control handle.I would recommend this product .I tried brita brand water filter before installing this one, which was leaking water from all places after installation i tried replacement filter with more water leaks.

After reading some of the poor reviews I thought I should add my two cents. The couple one start reviews I read sounded like the owners didn’t know what they were doing and had problems due to there own negligence. I installed my own filter system over 10 years ago and it’s working great. Only tip is that when you change the filter make sure the gasket is installed properly. And after a year or so you’ll have to apply more plumbers grease to the gasket to keep filter changes going smoothly.I am able to use any filter in it that I want, not understanding the problem others have had. Unless they changed something.

This has a filter bypass where you can change the filter without shutting off the water completely. Of course that would allow unfiltered water to flow while you are taking the 5 minutes or so to change the filter. Quick and easy to change the filter. My previous home filter didn’t have the bypass. This also has an indicator on the top to let you know when the filter needs to be replaced. The knob to switch the flow from the filter to bypass or off is a little tight to turn, but you get used to it. I purchased this one to replace the one I had in this house as it would fit in place, without replumbing. I purchased this same model 2 or 3 years ago for my summer house and has never had any issues with it.

This product works for me , I put two in beside each other as a primary and the other secondary, it’s doing the job, the clear glob you can see the status of the filter without removing the glob because some whole house filter systems have solid no see through glob and you can’t see the status

The design is very good. Unfortunately the female threads on the housing weren’t cut or more likely, molded very well and it was impossible to get a plastic fitting into it. If you get this, you might want to have a 3/4″ NPT tap handy.

I am a General Contractor and any home that we install a Tankless HWH I always put this directly in-line prior to any household cold water feeding into the unit. This extends the life of the HWH at least double the life expectancy. Change the filter at least annually and you are good to go!
