Description

The GE Household Water Pre-Filtration System connects to 3/4 in. plumbing to filter out sand, sediment and rust from all your household water. The pre-filtration system features a 3-position bypass valve to allow you to change the filter without turning off your water supply. This water system helps to provide clean, clear water for showers, dishwashers and laundry.

I have read a number of reviews regarding the failure of the red pressure release button (starts leaking). I have had this unit for several years and we have sediment in our well water. Granted it is a poor design that doesn’t filter the sediment from the pressure valve which causes the failure. A fine screen inside the housing where the valve exits would do the trick. I have found that the simplest fix it to turn the water off, remove the filter housing and then used compressed air from the outside of the valve to blow the sediment out. It works like a charm. Push the red button in (open position) and force compressed air from the outside through the center of the valve. Them pull the valve out (closed position) before putting the filter housing and water pressure back on. That way the sediment you just blew out won’t reappear and clog the valve.Good luck, has worked and I continue to use it and blow it out maybe once a year (quarterly filter replacements).

This was easy to assemble, no leaks after filter installed. The clear housing helps keep track of the effectiveness of the filtration and when to change filters. I did not install the monitor because it is likely I would ignore it anyway, just another thing to maintain.

Good so far but it’s only been installed for a week. I noticed that most of the negative comments were on the shut off/bypass lever so l plan on not using it. I’ll just shut water off at the pressure tank.

We purchased this model and size which came with nice Polly fiber sentiment filter already meeting our specific purpose to filter out the well water sediment before going into the pool. Exclusive to GE, the filter reminder which will start flashing when it thinks filter needs changing.PROS: Good overall sediment filter, nice see-through filter holder and heavy construction plastic. CONS: The valve’s handle is placed in a the awkward position which requires you to support the bottom of the filter while turning the handle due in part of the hanging bracket is connected to the filter by the inlet and outlet fittings allows the filter to swing back and forth.
