The GE Heavy-Duty Household Water Filtration Unit filters water at your home’s main water supply to help reduce sediment, sand, rust, soil and silt. The heavy-duty construction is ideal for homes with plumbing up to 1 in. thick. Mounting hardware and a wrench are included for convenient installation and maintenance.

One of the filters had s dent in it, exposione of the filters arrived with a hash in it, exposing the black filter stuff. I went to the store and exchanged it. The guy who installed the two filters seemed to be okay with the process.

I have tried to use a competitors filter but it had issues and housing leaked. The GE housing is robust and the installation was easy.I had the GE filter before in house where I used to live I used it for years with out any issues.I wish they would put a place for the filter wrench, there is no place to hang it.It would be nice if they would design a pail to hang from the head when you remove the filter canister. This is still by far the best unit on the market it is made to work!!!

Replaced a 15+ year filter housing to avoid problems with this one. Our plumber/furnace man recommended it. Within a couple days after installation we noticed water under it. We placed a container under it and it was leaking about 1/2 cup in 24 hours. We called him back and he found the red pressure release button on top has a slight leak. He removed the new filter element, cleaned what he could and said to get a different filter element. We did and when he came back and saw the red button still leaking without a element in it said the unit was defective. He took it off and made a temporary bypass pipe so we have water. He also tested our water pressure which showed 55 psi. GE rep was nice and said take it back to Home Depot for a replacement or parts to fix ? We’ve been dealing with Home Depot for years so we’re hoping they take care of it. We only owned it around a month. Will review replacement.

Grand View has a very high content of Iron in the water, this system works great! we can tell if the filter needs changing ,the water pressure gets slow .usually lasts the 3 months before needs changing,when our water is in good shape…it has lasted as long as 5 months.

Easy to install, only thing to be concerned with is to make sure the fittings you attach to the filter match the pluming…originally we had steal fittings so I put same in the Whole house filter…then the city replaced the meter and put in copper fittings from meter which caused corrosion till I had to replace the filter fittings to copper. Other than that and the Fact I wish they had a 6 month instead of 3 month Filter that worked the same or better, that would be awesome.

As a filter it seems to work well. Fairly simple to replace the element. Unfortunately, Home Depot does not carry the O-ring that you need to replace every couple of filter changes. They Used to carry it, but no more. That means you have to go to a local plumber with the old O-ring for comparison. So, your whole house water system is shut down for a couple of hours while you go chase the O-ring.
