The GE Heavy-Duty Household Water Filtration Unit filters water at your home’s main water supply to help reduce sediment, sand, rust, soil and silt. The heavy-duty construction is ideal for homes with plumbing up to 1 in. thick. Mounting hardware and a wrench are included for convenient installation and maintenance.

The system works flawlessly. Water is very clean and free from the heavy chlorine smell. Make sure that you use the factory filters. There are substitutes on the market that are simply not as effective.

I purchased a home that had been vacant for over a year, and I was concerned about the quality of the water, so I purchased the GE whole house water filter. I had it professionally installed, and I’ve been very pleased with the quality and taste of the water since it was installed. The only negative: the system didn’t come with the actual filter … Kinda scratchin’ my head on this, since I thought that’s what I was purchasing. There was nothing on the box stating that the filer wasn’t included. My plumber had to make a special trip to Home Depot to pick up the filter but, once that was installed, it’s been working great. So … just be sure to purchase the separate filter when you buy this item to avoid a surprise when it’s installed. 🙂

So far so good. Installed this downstream of my GE water softener. I would have given this 5 stars if they would have given the necessary fittings to make any sort of connections. I ended up spending 35 dollars on some plumbing fittings to get it hooked up.
