I recently received the GE Whole House Water Filtration System and installed it in our current home in Florida. This is the same type of system that we had previously used in our trailer on a lake property we owned in northern Georgia. It was city water there and the chlorine smell and taste were very noticeable. This system did what we needed. It removed the chlorine smell and chlorine taste. You can choose from several different types of filters to use for this system. We are currently using a filter which removes the chlorine taste, the chlorine smell, lead and sediment. I cannot attest as to the filters capabilities for removing lead as this would require some sort of analytical testing and we have not had our water sampled or tested. For a few extra dollars a year, it’s worth it to us to install the higher filtering capacity water filter. Our water is odorless now, I can attest to that. Installation is relatively easy depending on the location and ease of access to your incoming water supply (from a well, or from a city supply). After using this system previously, we were quite satisfied with the results. If you’re looking to purchase a whole house water filtration system at a reasonable price, the GE system may be one you would want to consider. I have attached a few pictures of the system installed (not plumbed) to give you an idea of what it looks like. Filter changes are very easy, and it is recommended you change them every three months.

The GE whole house filter was easy to install. Took about an hour. My installation was made easy due to the fact the home was re plumed through the attic because of a slab leak some years ago. I would have preferred to put filter in garage. But, I would have had to run supply all the way across attic. GE recommends an indoor mount to prevent freezing and UV rays. Fortunately I’m in Florida. I’ll build a box to cover suns rays and light freezes. The shark bites made connections easy at filter. You may need to do some plumbing to get supply where you need it. Minimal plumbing skill is required. Push on fittings will make the process easier. Filter is super easy to change out. And it looks really nice. If that matters to you. We have filters on refrigerators but not too easy to fill a pot of water for spaghetti. It’s nice to use faucet. Now you can fill the bath tub and not smell like chlorinate city water.

I ordered this thinking I had the perfect spot for it, but per directions, and Q&A, needs 24″ of space below it?!?!First off, it does not come with a filter. Make sure you order one, based on your needs (see below). Second, GE has a model like this (307938369) that also monitors your water flow, via App, and shuts off the water main in an emergency, and is just as easy to install, if you install it near an outlet. The only reason I found the model with the WiFi shutoff, was when I was searching for the filters. A typical WiFi shut-off system is at least a hundred dollars. The doubling of work, of installing them separately, makes no sense; unless you already have one. There are 3 different grades of filter for this. The simplest is for sediment. The middle is for sediment and odor . The highest grade is for sediment, odor and Lead. I have installed PEX all the way to the road. So, I have no worries of Lead, but I do get a Chlorine taste, that is what I was hoping to get rid of by using the middle filter. I love that GE gives you a choice of filters, and you are not paying for something you do not need.

It’s been great so far. Initially, the water pressure struggled but now it’s back to normal.

Replaced whole home filter with this system and I love it. Old system used wrench to twist to tighten or to remove. Had the system for 10 years and it would drip and I would have to use a mallet to loosen the filter to change it.This system uses a lever to seat or release the filter. No dripping and filter works great. It took a plumber about 45 minutes to install if (like me) you don’t trust yourself with plumbing work.

I consider myself to be fairly handy. It took me 2 1/2 hours today to install this in my basement. I had to build out the wall so the bracket would have somewhere to attach. It doesn’t mention that specification anywhere. It took me a good 45 minutes to “use the quick connect tool, slide the quock connect fittings on to the system”. Its not at all the simple. I work out 5 days a week and if I had been any weaker it wouldn’t have “slid on”. The “bracket”…please. There is literally no diagram that shows how its supposed to go together. No mention of a L or R. Discovered that myself. There are no, literally none, You tube videos of how to install. I’m not surprised. I swore probably 20 times trying to install this thing. It had better be worth it

Placed this between incoming water line and water softener. Works great and my water quality is much better; in fact, I have discarded my water filter pitchers since installing this device.

This thing doesn’t look too bad. I will probably make a cover for it to hide it from plain view and to protect it from everything a little better. The mounting hardware provided is everything I needed to attach the filter to the wall and to attach the filter to the wall mount. It’s very heavy and awkward to get everything aligned. Once up, it’s solid as a rock. When filter replacement is due, it’s a little difficult to work the release for the filter housing and it’s media from the machine itself due to the weight of the filter media, the housing (very thick) and the weight of the water. Minimum of 2 hands required and a third would be welcomed. First you have to turn the release lever. Second is to lift the rocking lever and catch the filter housing as the release lever is held open. It’s very awkward to replace the filters but otherwise, it’s a great filter

This is a low volume (4 GPM) filter system. The filter media is purchased separately and there are three grades of filter media. The filter media is proprietary to this model and cannot be substituted. This model comes with SharkBite style fittings, so this may impact additional parts you may need for installation. It is nice to have a transparent bowl for the media, but your water quality may impact your ability to see if the media needs to be changed. The filter media is only rated for three months, but your water may need more frequent changes. It is advised not to use the built in pressure release button as sediment can get into the button and cause a leak. Simply shut off the water main and open a faucet to release the pressure. The bypass is a nice feature in case you can’t get an immediate filter media replacement, as your water pressure will drop as the media gets dirty. I would also recommend getting some o-ring lubricant and some spare o-rings in case one is damaged during a media replacement. I have installed similar models in the past, and do not recommend this model for anyone that is not on city water.

Yes and I can see unexceptional things that the filter is preventing from going into my home water.

Very nice concept, but the longivity of the replacement filter cartridges seems a little bit short…This type of water filter system, for whole house might be a better fit for a smaller house…fifteen thousand gallons is kind of a short life for the average house…Replacement filter cartridges would have to be replaced a bit to often and are a little pricey…Other filter systems would be a better fit for most homes…Still a great product…

This WHOLE HOUSE WATER FILTRATION SYSTEM is a nice filter system. The directions are easy to follow and straightforward. The mounting bracket is easy to install. The template makes it easy to install this unit. The filter also comes with the quick connections for the water lines as well as the removal tools. The filter is easy to replace. The water is better with this unit installed.

This unit is very nice looking and easy to install using shark bite fittings. Unfortunately the line coming off my main is 1inch and the inside diameter of the filter is 1/2inch so greatly reduced water pressure especially when more than one shower was on. Would love for GE to have this setup that started out at 1inch and was able to reduce rather than the current configuration. If you have a large house or lines larger than 3/4 I would recommend looking into a different unit. I did remove it. 🙁

Bought this for a rental property to help reduce sediment etc from the main water line getting into the house, couldn’t use it there because of clearance constraints so I installed it at our main property. House has all new PEX line so it was super easy to install, and it removes the chlorine taste and smell (never had a sediment issue here, and I don’t see any in the trap). Only issue with this is it reduced water pressure quite a bit, the sprinklers now struggle to reach areas they had no problem with before the filtration unit was installed. Other than that, a pretty solid filter and it’s nice they have the varying levels of filters for this unit.

So I just received this GE water filtration system it’s a really nice system it comes complete even with the push to lock SharkBite fittings that connect to your 3/4 inch incoming cold water line it’s got a built-in bypass feature which is really neat so if your filter is dirty and you don’t have time to get a filter or run the store to get a filter you just turn the lever to bypass and it just ignores the filter and just flows the water straight through it’s got a red button on the back it’s a pressure relief button so it relieves the pressure from the clear tank so it makes it easier to remove the filter and change the filter The filter is a proprietary size for this filtration system filter sold separately it’s it’s about 50 bucks and they’re good for about 3 months according to what the paperwork saysit’s a pretty good size filter it’s the filter itself is three and a half by about 11 and a half
