Product so far has been up to expectations, we are currently on well water and were noticing particles in the water, which have since been removed. Mobile app is easy to navigate once the correct app was found (SmartHQ). Would give product a 5 if installation instructions were a little more clear. We have not even taken out of the package as we were nervous about messing us our plumbing so are waiting on our plumber Brian to get it done. This is what we wrote about the system and thought it should be together: Well we though after reading the descriptions online…….we can do this it sounds so simple. After getting the product I’m not going to say that there are people more knowledgeable than us. Our major concern come when we are doing plumbing or electric on those aspect we tend to call our amazing plumber Brian in this case. Our home is from the 50’s and he is doing some great updates so what is one more can’t wait to use this as our son has psoriatic arthritis so we are hoping this will help.

Okay, I cannot stress this enough…read the instructions before you buy this whole house water filtration system. Installation is straightforward with the included, easy to follow, instructions. When I ordered mine instructions were not available on my HD App, as they are now. If you are replacing a whole house filtration system the process will be easier, but, please read the instructions. Starting from scratch, it might be a bit more than you bargained for…for instance, an incoming water line that is not readily accessible. I’m not suggesting that it’s impossible, but it might be more than a DIY’er wants to tackle. So, you decide to take the plunge and spend a sizable amount of money on the housing (though it is very well made, and the easiest one I have ever owned when it comes to cartridge replacement), you still need a cartridge. Depending on what you want to remove from your water, it can add up to another $50…every 3 months. This is to be expected, however. Any filter housing requires (suggests) that cartridges be replaced at this interval, so this isn’t criticism, just an observation. Now, about those instructions…they are not clear when discussing WiFi connectivity. Mine has a WiFi sticker on the housing which led me to believe that I was good to go. But, they further state that if you have an external connection port (looks like an Ethernet port), you require a GE ConnectPlus Module. When I contacted GE about this their response was that I did need the module. Dang! But wait! On a hunch I downloaded the GE App on my phone and plugged the power supply into the housing. It immediately found my WiFi network and began communicating with my phone. Voila! I guess if I had one recommendation it would be for GE to review their instructions for this pretty nifty product. Does it filter water? It certainly does! I added the FTHLM cartridge that filters down to .5 microns which surprises me that water can get through. Just kidding. And, I’ve found that our filters actually last longer than the average 3 months, which says something for our city’s water system. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

The Smart GE Whole House Filtration System is a very unique design that is really cutting edge. To begin with, they literally sent everything that was needed to install, with a couple of caveats. Our house dates back to 1905 so all of the plumbing is underneath the house. Thus, that’s where it had to be installed. The GE system runs on power so you will need to have a 110-volt (GFCI or AFCI) outlet. Second, this is not a Bluetooth unit; it requires a Wi-Fi signal at the filter itself. Not a real big deal, but if you want the unit to work on your smart phone, then it has to have electricity and Wi-Fi. Plumbing the system was fairly straight forward, find the inlet from the meter and install it from there. I did not have to make a hardware run for anything. Running an electrical circuit to the crawl way was the most difficult for me. The Wi-Fi signal came straight from the router (I did have to run Cat 5 to the unit). I would think that installing in a newer house would be simpler to do. From our short time using the GE system, we have noticed a different taste in the water, which is a good thing. There was no drop-in water pressure past the filter assembly. The bottom line is that this not a 15-minute project and may require the services of a professional to ensure code compliance. But for us, the difference in the taste of water has been worth it !

Got this whole house water filtration system recently. Overall i should say am satisfied. A small disappointment is that this so called “Filtration system” doesn’t come with the filter at all!! How surprising and disappointing!! Am glad i also ordered a replacement filter along with this, so i at least had one to start with.Otherwise i liked this and water quality seems to have improved. I need to do water testing to prove it.

I received this item to try. I had a friend install it. It does take some plumbing knowledge to get it put in. Once set up and going it works great. The Smart feature on it the best part. It is nice to be able to keep an eye on water flow and leaks from anywhere you have cell service. Would recommend.

This product is wonderful. Before installing this water filter my water was horrible and I was unable to drink it. Now, it tastes great! Also, I feel like my appliances are working better. I love that I can control my filter from my phone. It also alerts me if the water has been running for too long. When the filter needs to be replaced I will get a notification. Highly recommend!

Bought and installed this product today. Install tool less than 15 minutes with slip on fittings. Very solid bracket assembly. Replaced old whole hpuse filter with this system so pipes were already in place. Note you can change the orientation of the inlet and outlet by turning the inlet/outlet assembly on the back of the head unit. Nice feature! My only complaint is the wifi setup. In the installation manual GE points you to http://www.geappliances/connect which prompts you to install the SmarHQ app. This is not the app you need to connect this appliance to your home network. You need the Comfort GE Appliances app to setup and use the wifi features of this appliance. That information was nowhere to be found in any documentation. It would be helpful if GE pointed customers to the correct app for their products.
