I would not recommend buying this O-ring online as in the store it sells for under $3.00 and you get (2) rings that fit all sizes of filters listed on pkg. It doesn’t come with a lubricant but ordinary Vasoline will do the job.

Mean trick selling the filter and the “O” ring separately. Both the filter AND the “O” ring should be sold together.Over time, the installed “O” ring swells up. When you remove the housing to replace the filter the “O” ring dislodges. It can not be put back in place as it has become LARGER, and will no longer fit in place.This now required a second trip back to HD to purchase the replacement “O” ring. It took some time to find this critical piece as it hangs on a display off the shelving. There is no marked location on a shelf to find this. Even two sales people couldnt find it. They kept looking because the computer said there was 15, but no shelf location.

For a long time HD did not stock the replacement o-rings for the GXWH40L whole house filter so i had to buy them online which were very expensive. Searching online I found them again available at HD and at more than half the cost. Exact GE o-ring for my filter, will buy again!
