We have been using the GE water filtration system for many years. Our old one about 5 years old (still working) started making a lot of noise. The techs tried to correct it, but it needed more work. it could have been fixed. But, we opted to purchase a new filter system that is a current replacement of our old one. It was installed with no fuss or muss and has been working perfectly since then. Our water tastes great, and there does not seem to be any issue with the tank size. We have the system installed so that the water from the fridge is filtered also. Yes, we would recommend the system without hesitation.

No more fetching water from a store. No more running out of water. Its so convenient and no foul taste from water.I would recommend it to anyone.

This is my second GE Reverse Osmosis system in ten years. I have very hard water with heavy iron deposits. Because of this, even after continually changing the filters as recommended, my system completely stopped working. No water what so ever. I just had a new system installed.

Been using this product for a month now. Instead of using the sinktop dispenser we tied the RO system directly into our refridgerator’s icemaker and water dispenser. The water tastes great and it’s nice that the kids drink water now instead of soda. The ice is crystal clear. Couple of negatives: The sinktop dispenser is is chrome and we have a brushed nickel faucet (not an issue since we hooked it up to the fridge). Also, the pressure of the water is pretty weak and it takes a while to fill a glass. Finally, the amount of room it takes under the sink is pretty substantial – around half the cabinet under our sink.

It was to replace another unit so it was easy to install and since I just installed it I can not say anything else.

I had a Culligan system, and they had proprietary filters. It would have cost me as much to have them come out and replace the filters as this system cost. So, I just swapped them out. Installation was easy, and the instructions were pretty clear. After making the switch, the water actually tastes much better than it did with my old Culligan reverse osmosis system.

I think as a whole, the product might be OK. I did have a problem with slipping the tubing over the barbed fittings on the bottom of the faucet. One of the barbed fittings broke off when I was trying to attach the tubing. I ended up soldering the barb back on. For a novice, this would not have been an option. The barbed fitting is part of the vacuum breaker (air gap) for the waist water.

Improved water quality and taste of city water that was having bad taste.

I really, really wanted this to work. I mean nobody, and I mean nobody hates a monthly Costco run to hauling bottles of water home. the awkward comments people make when they see how much bottled water I purchase (and it’s only me) for one thirsty guy! I like to stay hydrated but do not like the taste of my city’s water and was hoping this GE RO system would save the day. I had used the ice maker twist and lock filters in the years past and felt fairly comfortable with this. After trying all possible options it will not install in my kitchen because of the thickness of my granite counter tops and how my sink is recessed into the counters. Because of the potential lifespan of this product it doesn’t warrant destroying my granite counter tops to install the faucet. This product is ideally situated for sinks you can drill through to mount the faucet.

We installed this over the weekend and so far we have not had a problem. We put in a tee and ran a separate line to the refrigerator. We still need to turn that portion on, but the kitchen sink is working great. Crystal clear water.

This system was a bit of a challenge to install since our home was a resale so we didn’t exactly know where all the lines went to. My husband figured it out and it has been working great since. Love it!

Why buy bottled water, when two top brands say purified water by reverse osmosis in the fine print on the bottle. Having your own purification system saves dollars and the amount of plastic bottles in the world. Having purified water in its own chrome faucet on your sink is very convenient.. Product was shipped promptly to my house with installation parts for under counter installation

The unit works well and provides well over 2 gallons of RO water from the tank. However, the built in vacuum breaker in that is integrated into the faucet is fragile. Pushing the 1/8″ plastic drain tubing on to the brass barb was extremely difficult. I ended up cracking the base which resulted in a substantial leak under the kitchen sink. I phoned GE, and they said that the the end of the plastic tube should be heated in hot water prior to attempting to push it on to the barb. This is not mentioned in the instructions that are included with the unit. GE sent me a replacement part under warranty, but I had to deal with catching the leaking water for over two weeks waiting for the part.

This RO system is great & the water produced is excellent! This is a good quality system made in the USA.

I tried many reverse osmosis systems in the past, unfortunately they produce and waste 3 cups of water for every 1 cup of drinking water. This unit works different than the other systems by placing the waste water back into the hot water line which can then be used throughout the house at the dishwasher, laundry or shower. I owned this unit for many years and I am very happy with its performance.

Unlike my old one of the same manufacturer, this one seems to produce enough water so that we can always have some when needed. It did cost significantly more than the old one, however,

The quality of this product is very good, but when parts go bad it is expensive to replace. The bladder in my tank is broken after 15 months of use. After reading about broken bladders it appears that my filters are also compromised due to possible issues of rust from water/metal contact with a broken bladder. So, I finally found the right person at GE to place an order, but for the filters and tank is will cost me $243. If I want to go down to Home Depot and buy the system new it costs $279. So, basically, this system is a disposable system. Again, the water was good, but I am not sure if I want to continue paying GE $243 every 15 months for filtered water.

Water taste great! Install was easy enough. Replacement filters are pricy. It’s like printers, the unit is low priced but the cartridge is high.

I used it for several years. Now I move to a new house and still buy the same model. It’s not too difficult to change the filters. Wish the filters can be used for longer.

I am 27 years old, Mechanical Engineer and have been doing rentals and income properties with my father beginning at age 14. My home is a 1977 built ranch style, on a farm property. I refuse to rent or purchase extremely expensive RO Units. Our nearest Home Depot had this unit for $209 not $279.The unit comes with everything you need for installation. I would recommend that you also purchase a saddle clamp or saddle valve. This is what homedepot.com offers = Watts Model # LF A50 Internet # 202254838. Also if you want to hook your fridge up to the RO unit you will need a 3/8inch OD plastic tubing T-connector and 1/4″-3/8″OD plastic tubing reducer.Tools needed, Power drill, long philips screw driver. plastic tubing cutter/side cutters, teflon tape, large channel locks, few zip ties, buck knive, lube, lighter, box o rags, and beers. The installation takes 2 hours and includes finding all of the above tools and the clean up. I highly recommend that you only do a mock install and then turn the water on. You are guaranteed leaks and you will have to trouble shoot those leaks.I used my buck knive and cut open the box and layed everything out. Followed the directions and installed everything as said but used a saddle clamp instead of the provided drain plumbing parts, for some reason my drain pipes are very short and i would have had to replumb all the drain lines to use what was provided. When I went to push the black hoses on the barbs they will only go on half way. Put some lube on the barbs and took a lighter and lightly heated the end of the black plastic tubing and then pushed them on. I cut the supply line to faucet and put in a 3/8″ T connector, this hooks the RO unit to my fridge. At this point I was fully installed and i buttoned everything down, then turned the water on, it leaked all over. I recommend before you tighten down everything down that you turn the water on, make sure the faucets is held upright or the “air bubble air gap drain” wont work and it will leak. Use the manual to troubleshoot all the leaks. Don’t trust that it was assembled in the factory correct either. Once you got all the leaks stopped button it down tight. This unit has had the water on without leaks for 1hour and 20 minutes. You can hear the “air bubble air gap drain”” and the sound of running water in the sink drain. It is loud and annoying. I am hoping that is stops soon, and that this only occurs during the initial setup. You wont get water out of it right away, and it has not stopped draining water it might dry my well up over night. Thats where the beers come in.The faucet is two pieces, the clamping mechanism for the base to sink mount is fine, but the handle and spout is held connected to the base by a below feasible size single set screw. I am forced to turn the handle and spout with extreme caution, I would never purchased this unit because of its handle and place it in a rental or area it may be abused by children or such. Surely to fail.I plan to do some research on this “air gap” handle, I notice that HD sells a no air gap faucet with great reviews. I may be able to buy that and rig something up to get rid the noise it makes.i hope this unit lasts for 6months or longer, and does not dry up my well from the constant flow of wasted water. I will have to update this review when the first of those events come.
