Worked like a charm, and made more sense than buying a set of lockable extensions just to change spark plugs.

Works great replacing plugs in 1997-2003 f150. A must have if you are a mechanic.

The GearWrench 3/8 in. Drive 5/8 in. Swivel Spark Plug Socket has a full polish chrome finish and is corrosion resistant. This make changing out spark plugs so much easier and traditional spark plug sockets since you always have a couple that are difficult to reach. The socket is also magnetic so it will help to hold the spark plug in place while you are trying to get it lined up. A must have for any mechanic or do-it-yourself-er.

Since I can’t have every tool it is nice that I can have some of the more practical ones in my tool box. This swivel spark plug socket is very practical. Car makers have not made it easy for us to work on our own vehicles so this swivel socket comes in very handy for me to remove my spark plugs without being a contortionist. I also used it to remove the spark plug from one of my chainsaws.

This is a product that im very passionate about, and since I am a full time mechanic I will be as descriptive as possible. The full length is roughly 6″ and the socket itself is a 5/8″ spark plug socket that is a 6 point. The inside of the socket is lined with magnets and will hold your spark plug as you pull the extension out. These magnets are very strong and as you can see in the pictures it holds the plug very well. Its a great concept mainly because spark plugs are getting harder and harder to replace on all types of vehicle due to bad engineering. The swivel mechanism is so smooth and seemless that there is no binding or tight spots as you are turning your ratchet. Gearwrench has really stepped up their game and I am very happy with this product and will be purchasing another for my home shop. All in all a fantastic product!!!

This is a really handy tool for removing & installing spark plugs. I’ve had times where I just don’t have a straight shot @ the plug & the swivel on this tool does the trick. The magnetic socket makes it easier to keep track of the spark plug once it’s removed.I never heard of Gear Wrench before & checked out their website. It appears they are well known in the racing industry based on the number of speciality tools they produce.

Nice spark plug wrench. Overall width a little big but it fit inside the tube. Held onto the plug well. Hope they make this in other sizes.

I own a lot of tools. But this tool saved me a lot of time. I put the 16 spark plugs in a 03 Dodge ram. Every one was saying it was a nightmare. No problem with this tool. It holds the plug with a magnet. Keeps the extension and socket from falling down in the head.

It gets to the plugs on the back of the engine so it’s good for me.

I bought one of these many years ago during my 35 years as an auto mechanic. As any mechanic knows, changing spark plugs became quite a feat with newer vehicles. And most cars now use a 5/8 spark plug rather than the old 13/16 plugs still present on some small engines such as in lawn mowers. The smaller plugs can be quite a treat to get started particularly where you can’t put your hand. That’s the feature of this that makes it so nice to use, it comes with a 6 inch swiveling extension made right on it along with a plug retainer inside the socket so you won’t drop your plug. It’s very convenient when trying to get your spark plug into those tight spaces. I used to also have this tool in the 13/16 style (different brand) but lost both a few years ago due to a fire. Since it takes time to remember and replace all the tools one accumulates, I found this at Home Depot and had to have it. It is identical in every way to the model I so loved and lost. And if I should find I still need larger one, will go back for the larger socket also. And for a bonus, these cost less than I paid for the other brand so long ago.

The swivel spark plug is unique. It’s one piece, solid, well made and has advantages and also disadvantages. I like that it is one piece and do not have to look for a universal joint to get into those difficult spaces. It also gives me more grip if the socket gets jammed on the spark plug I can more easily remove it. The disadvantage (see photo) is the limited angle. I suspect that would not be too often but IMO the good out ways the bad in the long run. It’s one tool and has its place in my tool box.

I needed socket like this to reach spark plugs that are in a difficult spot to get to with a regular socket. It allows me to flex it enough to get into the engine compartment and around cables and brackets so that it will seat on the plug enough then make it workable to be able to ratchet the plug off. Then you will be able to get the new plug back in the same spot no problem.

Haven’t used the socket wrench yet. It looks well made and it will do the job I got it for. It is a must have for changing plugs in a Ram Hemi truck.

Good product. Made changing spark plugs much easier. No chance of dropping a plug while removing or installing it in the cylinder head.
