Very nice and high quality sockets. Includes a lot of sockets and a very usable socket holder. Most socket sets you would have to pay extra for a holder. I like husky brand sockets but by they include less sockets and there holder is unusable so it costs an extra $8-$10 for a proper socket holder.

The mid depth 3/8 inch drive Gearwrench socket set comes with a polished chrome finish with easy to read sizes etched right into the socket. One feature I really like is the knurled ring at the top.of the socket it gives you more grip if you have to turn the socket by hand. The set also came with a durable plastic socket rail to keep your sockets organized. And all this at a great price nice going Gearwench!

I’m a heavy duty diesel mechanic, I use these everyday and they are just as good as any brand I see on the tool trucks, for a fraction of the price.

Very nice socket set. The socket sizes are visible for finding your socket but I’ve seen better. The serrated edge on the socket is also good when hand tightening in certain situation before attaching 3/8 drive. What I love about the set is how easy it was to pull the socket off of the socket strip. Usually I have to wrestle with them to get them off. The strip have an indent ball which helps with their removal and also in locking them in place. The strip looks like it can be mounted.

Many times short is too short and deep is cumbersome, These are so handy I use them for 80 percent of my socket work

I’ve sometimes found that, when working in tighter spaces, standard length sockets are too short, but tall sockets are too tall. These mid-length sockets, as Goldilocks might say, are “just right”. They’re very nicely finished, with the size clearly marked. Metric sockets have a knurled pattern around to distinguish them from SAE sizes. The holder is good quality too – the pegs are neither loose nor tight, but hold the sockets firmly until removed. The pegs can slide back and forth on the holder if you want a bit more space.

This is a nice set of sockets that give you a very good selection of sizes across the range represented. The markings are well etched and big enough for me to read without my reading glasses although they could perhaps be a tad larger for a blind one like me. For the average person they will be very easy to read. I put them to work right away bolting some side steps on my jeep and they performed well. The chamfered openings helped when I was reaching up into places where I had to work by feel. It is a double edged thing the chamfering meaning you need to keep the socket pushed down on the nut good to keep a grip. But on the whole I found it made the job I was doing a bit easier. The depth is good on these and the holder is a nice touch since I don’t have to dig up another holder for my box. The holder is very similar to the ones I bought for the rest of my sockets at HD. Given how many you get and the quality of the set I would call these a good deal.

Sockets are easy to find in standard and deep lengths. Mid-Length sockets are usually only available from specialty tool vendors; and at a much higher cost. For comparison in 3/8 inch drive, my standard depth sockets are 25mm or about 1 inch long; my deep sockets are 65mm or about 4-1/2 inches long. This mid-length set is 46mm or about 2-1/2 inches long. More importantly, these sockets have 6 vertices or points. Most fasteners are 6 point, and sockets with the same number of points are the best fit. This set of sockets have reach for double nuts on a bolt. I have a very old deep socket that I used for comparison. Even though the old socket is deep, the fastener depth must be shallow in order for it to work. This set does not skip sizes as many sets do. The sizes are from 6 to 19 for a total of 14 sockets. The set includes a nice socket holder.

I just got this set of 3/8” drive, six-point, medium length sockets. I’m pleased to say that my first impression is positive. Here’s why: 1. This set of 14 metric size wrenches covers the routine sizes I most commonly encounter for heavy duty mechanical work: 6 mm – 19 mm. 2. The socket body appears to be made of solid steel, with the sizes etched (not printed) on the body, making for easier identification of the larger sockets (12mm and up). The font size etched into the smaller sockets (6 mm and under) was too small to be useful to me.3. Owing to their medium length (about 1-3/4″), the larger diameter socket sizes (over 11 mm) have a deeper shoulder (about 1”) than shorter length sockets, and therefore, these sockets are able accommodate larger nuts and protruding bolts, in the same way that dedicated deep sockets do. I found that these sockets generally eliminated the need to use a special (and longer) deep socket, when I was working in areas with limited space, making it easier to place the socket over the fastener. The shoulder length on the smaller diameter sockets decreases gradually to about ¼”.4. The manufacturer touts special “contact points” at the surface opening of the socket that it claims to “virtually eliminate the rounding of fasteners.” I did not have a situation requiring the use of excessive force, where I would be able to test this feature. However, a side-by-side visual assessment of this socket compared to another “conventional” six-point socket did not reveal a product design difference that I was able to identify. 5. The set is a good value for its intended use.6. The set comes with a reusable plastic tray which securely holds all sockets. It sports three holes to secure the tray to a solid surface for storage. The sockets “clip” into square plastic holders that slide onto the mounting tray, so that it is possible to select the socket you want without having to remove others. Nice Design!. 7. Lifetime warranty – what’s not to like?Overall, this is a good solid quality set for the homeowner, priced right for DIY and professionals too. I would recommend it to others.

I have been a builder and remodeler for 50 years, and of course I often have a need to use a ratchet, 1/2” drive. So when I saw this, the GEARWRENCH 1/2 IN. DRIVE 12-POINT DEEP SAE SOCKET SET (8-PIECE), I was interested. I often use sockets in my work, and I’ve always liked the gear wrench tools. I like this set, and the gear wrench brand in general is always nice quality too. I definitely recommend this!

Price was very fair and you won’t get these mid size unless you go Macto or Snapon and they will cost you in the hundreds. Very useful when working on fwd AC compressors, alternators. On newer vehicles where they really jam a big engine in a FWD with a transverse layout makes no sense. Very nice.

Great usual GearWrench build quality and nice shiny chrome finish. These sockets are a life saver and fill that small niche of having a intermediate length socket that negates the need of a short extension but also offer the length for long threaded nuts on bolts. Has nice latching de-tents that fit the ratchet locking balls well on your ratchets. Nice crisp clear markings.

This is a great addition to my Gearwrench set. I love the shallow broaching on the Gearwrench deep sockets, which was one reason I got them . However there are times you might want it to be able to be in further if you space limited, etc. These mid length Gearwrenches which are not shallow broached, so the nut goes down into the socket.

These well made metric sockets are designed for 3/8 inch square drive ratchets and tools. The set includes a blue socket holder bar which could be used for wall storage or for keeping the sockets together in a toolbox. Each socket is well finished in chrome and after use in a couple of jobs still looks as good as new. Used on a number of bolts the sockets have just enough clearance to fit easily but without much slop so that even tightly rusted bolts and nuts can be removed without damage.

These are six-point sockets, which I generally prefer over the more common 12-point variety because they grip better when working on older cars which often have nuts or bolt heads that have had the corners rounded from wrenching on them over the years. Six-point sockets grip these rounded over nuts and bolts better than the 12 point style. Six-point sockets give you less options for positioning the wrench in tight situations, but with the newer fine-toothed ratchets this is not much of an issue nowadays. These sockets are mid-length, not as deep as a full deep socket which makes them handy for a lot of situations where you need the extra length for a nut set deep on a stud and especially where there is not space enough to use a full length deep socket. these seem to be strong and fit snugly on the proper size nuts.

Awesome product! When I have to “wrench” on something I like to use a deep socket. To me they are more comfortable and I feel there is less chance I am going to bust a knuckle. But deeps don’t always work and that is where this set really shines. Has all the advantages of a deep set ( with a little less depth) and none of the shortcomings of a shallow socket. Don’t get me wrong – they all have their place and short sockets are great for tight spaces or when you really need to put some torque on something. But all in all I find this length to be the best of both worlds. These tools a made to last and the finish is superb. Has everything you need and nothing you don’t. The socket holder is a welcome change from tool manufacturers that offer tool sets in blow molded cases – super convenient and you do not have to struggle when removing or replacing sockets. Great product from a great company.
