Very nice set of long reach metric Allen’s with ball ends for easy insertion. Perfect for those hard to reach or awkwardly place fasteners. The Gearwrench 8-piece long metric Allen set starts at 3mm and ends at 10mm in whole Allen size, all with 3/8-inch drive sockets and all measuring approx. 6 inches in length. The Allen’s are made from S2 tool steel which the “S” series of tool steel is used to make tools subject to repetitive pounding while retaining some ductility. S2 can be made harder than 8650 or chrome vanadium but is less ductile and more prone to shattering. S2 is commonly used for such tools as chisels, dies, punch and shear applications. My point being is that some ductility does not mean you can torque the heck out of the hex and not expect the ball end to snap off. The Ball end snapping off under extreme load is the number one complaint with this tool. IMO the tool was being abused outside of its intended operating range. The Allen’s are pressed into the 3/8 drive sockets, each socket has a detente divot to help keep it onto the ratchet detente ball. The sockets are full polished chrome with knurling indicating metric with the size of the Allen clearly stamped into them 180 degrees apart. The tool caddy can stand up or be mounted onto a wall or hung on a hook or nail. The sockets fit nicely onto matching caddy studs with detente balls. I used the 8mm on a hard to reach bicycle bolt with no issues. This is a good set of metric Allen bits that allow you to get into hard to reach places. The Allen’s could be long lasting but will not stand up to excessive torque (est. 200 to 250-inch lbs. max). They are not suited for impact drivers but for most DIY’ers more than enough tool to preform 99% of the jobs that will come their way. Recommended.

This is a nice set of Allen wrenches. I like the long reach ( about 6”) the ball end for the “not right over the bolt areas”. My 3/8” ratchet fit without any looseness in the connection. The set comes with a nice holder for all of them. I had to use theses in a thighs spot for a motor adjustment and they worked perfect. This set covers most metric sizes.

Ball Hex is a fantastic innovation, and this set takes full advantage of the feature.These tools are changing the Allen key industry! The ball head allows the wrench to be inserted into the fastener at an angle, making the rotation of the tool much easier.This is a nice set of 8 metric sizes, you get every mm size from 3mm through 10mm and a holder that can be screwed onto a surface. The holder has ⅜” size square drive holders that even have a little locking ball to hold the tools onto the holder firmly.Each item is 5-3/4 inches long.Being able to attach a ⅜” ratchet driver to the driving end makes it really fast and easy to screw in a fastener with a hex shaped drive.Obviously one needs to take care not to apply too much torque for the small sizes.Made in Taiwan

GEARWRENCH 3/8 in. Drive Metric Ball Hex Bit Socket Set (8-Piece)This set was the exact answer to a specific problem I have had for quite some time.When I put my 2″x 72″ grinder together all of the drive, tension and idler wheels were installed and adjusted with metric allen hex insert machine screws. It made perfect sense for me to change out all of the remaining machine screws and bolts over to metric allen hex insert wrench pieces. For the last year all of the adjustments have been made with either a 1″ or 2″ metric allen bit with an extension bar or switching to a “T – Handled” wrench. None of which fit the situation as solidly as these “ball headed” 5-inch allen hex sockets do. I can now get a solid grip with a ratchet wrench, or a torque driver, to make each and every attachment set to the perfect tightness torque for the job. Having this ability will transfer to any tightening situation that is required for any machinery. The same goes for any sporting equipment you may want the same degree of tightness control for. GearWrench has checked off all of the boxes that are needed for exacting assembly and control.

Another good tool for augmenting the metric solution in your tool box. The Socket Set offers a good range of Bits, and a holder to keep them together in sequential sizing. The 3/8 drive option keeps all the normal sockets, drives and extensions available for project work. There length enable an additional reach for the working environment, and the tool’s material should handle most torque placed on them. While the 3/8 drives could deliver too much torque if an extension drive socket was used, the normal situation again, should be adequate.

This set of ball hex bit socket set is a nice addition to my tool collection. They come with a nice holder that keeps them organized and it can be mounted to a wall if you want. They are made with a nice polished finish that is easy to wipe off after using them. It fits onto my 3/8’s ratchet wrench, nice and snug. I can reach into tight spaces with these and they fit into the hex screws snugly. My only complaint is that it is not made in the United States
