I have been a builder and remodeler for 50 years, and of course I often have a need to use a ratchet, 3/8” drive. So when I saw this, the GEARWRENCH 3/8 IN. DRIVE SAE BALL HEX BIT SOCKET SET (7-PIECE), I was interested. I often use hex bit drivers in my work, and I’ve always liked the gear wrench tools. I like this set, especially with the ball ends, and the gear wrench brand in general is always nice quality too. I definitely recommend this!

This 7 piece 3/8 inch drive SAE ball hex bit socket set is great for every DIYer with wobble ends to get any entry angle needed. They are easily identified with the double line to show they are SAE so no worries about misplacing them as metric. They come with a rail tray to store them so they will be sorted in order ready for you to use. These are all 3/8 in. drive SAE ball hex bit wobble end sockets that range in size from 1/8 inch to 3/8 inch with a nice 6″ length to reach most tight spots.

This GEARWRENCH 3/8 IN. DRIVE SAE BALL HEX BIT SOCKET SET (7-PIECE) is a very solid and well made hex bit set. I think the number one use for these would be mechanics who work on today’s high-tech muscle car engines. I have seen a few videos/tv shows where they tear apart these engines and they seem to use hex bit sockets a lot. I just wanted these as another option where I might need a little extra torque over what I can get with my t-handle hex sets.

I was not familiar with the GearWrench brand until I ordered this set of hex bits, otherwise known as Allen wrenches. GearWrench is part of the Apex Tool Group which includes Crescent wrenches, Jacobs chucks, Weller soldering irons and other brands. The 3/8-inch drive socket adapters are chrome plated and the ball-end hex wrench portion is press-fitted into the adapter. The hex wrench has a dull gray-colored coating of some type. The set comes with a socket rail that can be hung or mounted to a vertical or horizontal surface using the countersunk screw holes in the rail. (Screws are not included.) Most importantly, these bits have a ball end that allow off-axis use on screws, bolts and set screws. Misalignment up to 20-degrees allows their use in tight spaces and the 6-inch length allows one to reach otherwise inaccessible spaces. At 20-degrees, the offset is more than an inch at the socket end. All hex wrenches should have ball ends! The only down side is that they will not remain in alignment in the socket of the fastener or set screw.Sizes range from 1/8-inch to 3/8-inches, including 1/32-inch sizes between 1/8 and ¼-inch.The set comes with a lifetime warranty but there are some limitations. The product is made in Taiwan

Allows access to hex screws which are in tight places with little to no room for tightening or loosening. 7 pieces with sizes ranging from 3/8″, 5/16″, 1/4″, 7/32″, 3/16″, 6/32″, and 1/8″.Highchrome sockets with quality carbon steel tips. Comes with handy mounting bracket which keeps them organized whether mounted on a shelf or placed in tool drawer.

Excellent set of hex bits. The extra long length makes it easy to get into tight spots that you normally could not get a shorter bit and ratchet drive into. The ball end drive allows you to work with a bolt that you can’t get the drive bit straight into the hex without fear of stripping the hex or loosing any torque to loosen or tighten the bolt. The set comes with a plastic holder that you can mount to the wall however it is somewhat flimsy and I don’t see it lasting very long. Other than that it is a great little set of hex bits.

These long reach (4 3/4” from tip of socket to the ball tip) hex head bit set is a nice addition to anyone’s tool box. The fit and finish on the socket end is very nice and each socket is marked with the hex bits size making it very easy to select the correct bit each time. The each hex bit has a nice matte surface that makes these much easier to handle with dirty or oily hands.What’s in the set:One Each: 1/8”, 5/32”, 3/16”, 7/32”, 1/4” and 3/8” Hex BitOne: Socket Holder Rail, Reinforced Plastic And AdjustableThis set contains the most common sizes of set screws that most folks will need. The hex bits are pressed into the sockets, so they are not field replaceable like some hex bits that have a set screw in the socket to hold the bits in-place. BUT; these are covered by a lifetime warranty, so this becomes less of an issue and more about convenience.

A set of SAE ball end hex bits (aka Allen) in most common sizes encountered equipped with a 3/8″ drive socket. Comes with a storage rack which probably would work best for mounting underneath a shelf or cabinet with the bits hanging straight down.Most useful for:* Loosening highly torqued or thread locked screws* Deeply set screws requiring a longer reach* Close quarters that don’t allow much room for turning commonly used “L” shaped drivers* Ball ends allow for secure insertion when the “angle of attack” is not straight onLike many other tools, different versions are not simply better or worse than others but merely allow solutions to various circumstances.
