This is a top notch, well designed socket set, from the tools themselves to the case. The ratchet is very smooth in operation and has plenty of ratchet teeth so you can operate in confined spaces. It is also low profile so it fits down in places that other ratchets will not. The sockets are well made, heavy, with flawless plating. They use the socket design where the torque is not concentrated on just the point of the bolt or nut. This is important in 12-point sockets that have less bite on the bolt/nut and can round off more easily. The size information is very large and easy to read on the sockets, a great feature for old eyes.the case has the unique feature that the top snaps off for use as a storage tray in your tool box, exactly what I did.Great socket set with a lifetime warranty.

This is a very nice set of sockets, both SAE and Metric, Extensions and a swivel. What you get in the set:SAE Sockets Deep, 1/2″ thru 15/16″, Shallow 7/16″ thru 1-1/8″Metric Sockets Deep, 10mm thru 19mm, Shallow 10mm thru 24mmRatchet, Fine 84 Tooth, 11″ Overall Length, Head Width 1-5/8″2 – Extensions, 3″ And 5″ 1 – Swivel1 – Blow Mold CaseThe finish on the entire set is very nice and very smooth chrome. All the sockets have a nice large label with the size clearly shown on the side. Super easy to read! All the sockets have a good dish on the back making mating to the Ratchet or Extension very easy and positive. The sockets also have a recess cut into each side of the 1/2″ socket well to snap into the ratchet detent making the socket stay firmly retained. All of the deep sockets are cut to hold the nut right at the front end of the socket well. This makes starting nuts very easy, especially in hart to reach areas. The ratchet is super nice and doesn’t feel like a club in your hand due to the handle design. It just feels right in your hand. The 84 toothed head makes working in tight or small areas very easy since it takes less than 10 degrees to get a click forward or reverse. Even the blow mold case is nice; it fits all pieces of the set nicely keeping them in place when closed even when dropped from a short distance. All of the cases wells are marked with the size of the socket molded in.This has to be one of the best sets out on the market at this price point. The fit and finish is great everything feels and works great. The replacement warranty is lifetime, this is a highly recommend from this reviewer.

This is a great set of tools and the case they come in. They are a well design socket set you want be able to beat. The ratchet is low profile it fit in places where other ratchets want. The sockets are well made and there heavy and flawless chrome plating. This set does come with sae and metric set and the ratchet handle is longer to help in breaking nuts and bolts loose. If you work on your on vehicles or any thing else you will love this set. The case is well made and the sockets and ratchets all fit perfect in the case. You can’t go wrong in getting this 12 point 1/2 drive and socket set It is a very high quality socket set.

Extremely nice socket set!The set of socket sizes is very comprehensive, providing standard socket metric sizes from 10mm through 24mm an deep sockets from 10mm through 19mm. For SAE sizes the standard sockets are 7/16” through 1-⅛” in 1/16” increments. Deep SAE sockets are repeated for ½” through 15/16” sizes. All the sockets are 12 point. The SAE and metric sockets are differentiated by the metric ones having a knurled ring around the base. The metric sizes are etched in within a circle and the SAW sizes are shown in a hexagon. The ½” ratchet drive has a low profile and a decent length of 11 inches. The handle is smooth and comfortable. The ratchet mechanism has 84 teeth so one only has to move it 4.3° to get to the next tooth. The direction is easily changed with a lever switch which is labeled on/off.The blow molded case has an excellent feature, the lid can be removed allowing the base to be placed in a tool drawer, holding everything in place and nicely arranged within the drawer. I am able to store the lid underneath the base in my drawer if I ever need to take the set somewhere. Also included are two extension, 3” and 5” and a nice universal joint. This set would form an excellent foundation set that will last someone a lifetime of hard work.Lifetime warranty.Made in Taiwan.

When my husband and I split, I was left with the leftover sockets. Most of the metric was gone as well as some of the SAE.I was putting a wheeled weed eater together the other day and it was all metric nuts and bolts. I was down to using 2 adjustable wrenches because the sockets I needed were not in the set. That was a long tedious job. I told myself that I needed a socket set that was complete. Now I have it.

GEARWRENCH 1/2 in. SAE/ METRIC Drive 12-Point Ratchet and Socket Set (49-Piece)I have a set of Craftsman sockets that served me well for 25 years at work. Now some are missing and the rest are in rough condition. This socket set is impressive for sure. Really nice 18” x 11-1/4” x 2-1/2” heavy duty secure plastic snap to close case with all the pockets marked where the sockets go. You can remove the lid if you want to keep in a tool box drawer. Each of the sockets are laser printed with the size marked in large and easy to read markings. They give the immediate impression of professional grade with really nice heavy chrome plating. I noticed the weight of these the minute I picked up a socket. The difference is obvious between my old set and the GearWrench set. The socket wrench with 84 tooth ratchet is smooth as glass and easy fine ratcheting for when you must tighten or loosen bolts in close quarters. Every piece in the box is quality. I usually prefer 6 point sockets, but these 12 pt. sockets didn’t give it up when trying to remove rusty nuts from my tractor using an impact tool and the ¾” socket. Griped the entire walls of the nut and didn’t slip or damage the socket. I think this socket set will stand the test of time at your house or shop. They have a Lifetime Warranty check with GearWrench website for details.

I used the 3/4″ deep socket, with the ratchet handle, to tighten bolts on reinforcement posts, I installed in my barn. The posts are 12″ wide with 2″ x 6″ beams on either side of the posts. The 84 tooth ratchet allowed me to get up in between the beams and tighten the bolts, even though there was only a 12″ wide distance between the reinforcing beams. The 11″ long ratchet handle gave me great leverage to snugly tighten the bolts. The ratchet’s ergonomic handle was comfortable to hold & the handle’s tapered end permitted me a 100% solid grip. The ratchet’s direction selector is engraved with “On” on one side & “Off” on the other side of the handle’s selection lever, to identify which direction I’ll be turning. I usually never know whether a bolt is SAE, or Metric, but with this set, it doesn’t really matter as both SAE & Metric sizes are both in the set. The standard sockets range from 7/16″ to 1 1/8″. Standard deep sockets from 1/2″ to 15/16″. The Metric sockets from 10mm to 24mm. Metric deep sockets from 10mm to 19mm. All deep sockets will accommodate up to a 2″ long bolt. Each socket has the size engraved on it. I had no problem loosening a stuck nut on a cow containment fence using the 15/16″ socket & ratchet handle. The heavy duty carry case has a dedicated spot for each part & each socket has it’s size embossed on the case. A carry handle on the case, would have made it perfect. This is a super heavy duty, highest quality socket set.

The 1/2 IN. DRIVE 12-POINT RATCHET AND SOCKET SET (48-PIECE) set is an excellent set of sockets for the Homeowner or “Shade Tree Mechanic” and Professional alike. It comes with a very good sturdy ratchet that has a long handle for great leverage. It comes with both METRIC and SEA sockets in both Standard and Deep Sockets along with a Universal Joint, two extensions 3″ and 5″ all in a Blow Mold Case with Removal lid to keep your tools in one place. I highly recommend this product.eyedaddy

Very nice heavy duty wrench set from GearWrench. I have been using GearWrench products professionally for years. This set is great quality with a lifetime warranty. Pretty much everything you need in a 1/2″ SAE and Metric drive set. There are standard and deep sockets with two extensions and a universal joint also. The ratchet has 84 teeth for tighter turning and the head is slimmer than most for better access to tight locations. I like that the head is well enclosed to keep smutz out. The sockets have the usual GW “Surface Drive” which just seems to bite better for me. It also has a nice selection of sizes with no gaps like some other sets have. The case is nice but not meant for lugging around in. It’s best for storage.

This is a beautifully well-made set – it exudes quality. What I like, and I’m a SAE type guy, is that the metric sockets, both the standard and deep well sockets, continue in sizes. That is to say no. 15 mm or 17 mm sockets for example are not missing. That’s been my experience a long time ago in where I’d have to stop what I’m doing and go out and get a socket. The standard metric sockets are 10 through 24 mm complete; and the deep socket s run 10 through 19 mm. SAE sockets run very well and seem all inclusive.Observations not negatives: The metric socket (see photo) have a serrated edge but the SAE sockets do not. I suppose if feeling in low light you’d know the difference between the two? I doubt it as I wouldn’t mix them is a tool box/drawer. But, I like the serrated edge as sometimes I’m using my fingers to tighten up a bolt until I use a racket and this would give me a little more grip. Too bad not included on the SAE sockets. The etched sockets are easy to read and the ratchet, 84 tooth, is definitely well made and very solid (i.e., read heavy). The ratchet will give you that little extra because of the 84 tooth. The case is flimsy and has no handle (see photo). But, this is a set for your tool box IMO and I wouldn’t carry it around. Typically for me, I just grab the main tools I need for an outside job or travel. Anyway, how many cases can you keep?
