These GearWrench 6 point sockets look great right out of the package. This package contains SAE and not metric. The sockets come mounted on a very nice red holder that is easy to spot in a drawer of others. They are made of high quality steel. The sockets are clearly marked and the largest is an inch and an eighth, the smallest is one half inch. The sockets are finished very well and clean easily. I’ve always used 6 point sockets on machinery or engines. They grip the nut or fastener much better than 12 point sockets. I feel much more confident using an extension bar on these. I have snapped many 12 point sockets. These are also backed up with a limited lifetime warranty. I also have a set of the three eights socket and ratchet.

This Gear Wrench 11-Piece 1/2 in. Drive 6 Point Standard Socket Set is a useful set to keep in the car or in a handy place in the garage. I like to try to do things myself before calling in the help of a mechanic and this set provides most of the sizes needed for intermediate auto repairs. The set comes with 6-point standard sockets (1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, 3/4, 13/16, 7/8, 15/16, 1, 1-1/16 and 1-1/8 in.). I would like to point out that this set includes a rail type socket holder to carry the sockets while they are not in use. Manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty.

Super strong sockets! I’m very happy with the quality of this Gearwrench 6-point socket set. 6-point sockets are my first choice for removing nuts and bolts. They are stronger than 12-point sockets and will not strip the bolt like a 12-point. Don’t get me wrong I have plenty of 12-point sockets, but they are used for light duty or when I’m working in extremely tight quarters. I was taught this by an old farmer who relied on 6-point sockets for working on his combine and tractors (He was one of the best mechanics I ever met). Take a look at impact wrench sockets, there always 6-point for strength and grip.

This GearWrench 1/2” Drive Set of 6 Point Sockets are well made with a nice chrome finish. The markings are large and easy to read and comes with a well built plastic rail that uses detents to securely hold the sockets in place. This is an eleven piece set that includes the following SAE sizes: 1/2″, 9/16”, 5/8”, 11/16”, 3/4”, 13/16”, 7/8”, 15/16”, 1”, 1 1/16”, and 1 1/8”. The sockets are designed to reduce fastener rounding, and seem to work well. These are manufactured in Taiwan.I am very pleased with the quality of these sockets and would definitely recommend them to others.

Eleven piece SAE of 1/2″ inch drive, six point sockets. Made from chrome vanadium steel and then nickel chrome plated to resist rusting. The inside edges of the sockets are rounded to make it easier to engage a nut or bolt. Each socket has a large hand stamped size making it easier to identify. Then the SAE sockets have a double etched lines around the bottom of the socket to recognize over a metric socket which has only one line. They feel very sturdy and have a lifetime warranty.

The GearWrench 1/2 inch Drive 6-Point Standard Socket Set (11-Piece) are just what I was looking for, a heavy six point socket set for those nuts and bolts you want to make sure you do not round off the corners while breaking loose and removing them. This set came with a socket rail that has a metal ball holder in them for better staying on the rail and not falling off like the cheap plastic ones do. These are going straight in my toolbox and yes I would recommend them to others.

For 1/2″ drive, I usually typically just use my impact sockets for everything. But, for slightly tighter spots, I thought I might add a shallow set of standard thinner wall sockets. Gearwrench tools really sits nicely in this category. Excellent finish and quality, nice features, great looking (not Junk), but about 4 times less than tool truck brands. Well Done! These are made in Taiwan, which was not a big point for me to get over. .

I liked these sockets and they have worked out great. I always prefer the six point socket and these ones fit great as needed. I used them to change some brakes and even though I know they are not for impact, I did use them with an impact and they held up perfect. They did not war and held up well. Also when I clicked them onto my ratchet I never had an issue of them popping off because they lock in well. They are made with good quality and I believe the warranty is Limited lifetime and that’s awesome. They cleaned off pretty good after I used them and I had no issues with grease not wanting to come off. Time will tell how they hold up but right now I’m really pleased with them. If only one thing I could think of negative would be they should’ve included a 3/8 adapter in the kit. The carrying strip had the room for it and 3/8 is common.

Could be great, but just good. A consistent product eludes GearWrench. The sockets are different heights, the stamping locations vary, the indexing of the stamping is horrible so you can’t read all the sizes when mounted to the socket holder and the size designators vary in width and depth. I personally don’t like the single line width stamping for the size, make it wider or double line. The hex around the number is brilliant as a way to designate the socket as a 6 point, and I do like the bold double smooth lines at the base of the socket to designate Imperial sizes. Not happy that the smallest size is 1/2″ hex omitting 7/16 and 3/8″. The chrome plating is really nice and the sockets have a nice heft to them for and overall quality feel. If they can fix the issues then a 5 star product is within reach.

Those are very precise sockets, made right, not loose, with very thick chrome plating that would ensure they stay very clean from grime and dirt. Most other socket sets have size just laser etched that fades with time, this one is actually embossed so it will actually stand out more with usage. The 6-point is the right way to go for any work, and depth is perfect for most tasks, especially working on alloy wheel lug nuts that require thinner sides of the socket so they don’t mar the holes for the bolts. The socket holder is one of the best I’ve seen out there, not cheaply made and tough to get them out or loose so they fall out easily. Price is just great for that quality of craftsmanship and chr-vanadium material. It’s just as good as it gets as far as wrench sockets go.
